It is only about 1" thick without anything in it - not a bulky bag that sticks out a lot, like some bum bags.I wasn't too sure about the number of pockets from the description provided, but it actually has 3 pockets in total: The rear one has an 8" zip along the top edge of the bag and comprises the full depth of the bag, plus the full width including the 'wings'; it will take lots of stuff, such as passport, wallet, specs case and more. You could fit a water bottle in it, but probably not with much else. The middle pocket is approx 5" high x 7" wide x 1" deep. The front one is the same height/width but is just a slim pocket, good for tickets etc.The material is a sturdy weave and the bag seems really well made - good seams, no bits sticking out, and with cord 'piping' around the outer edge of the middle pocket to give it form and protect it (as it sticks out the most). The rear pocket is fully lined with nylon. The middle pocket just has a nylon layer separating it from the front pocket.The belt on mine measures exactly 47" fully extended and 34.5" at its shortest. I suppose it's possible the belts vary in length a bit from bag to bag; the measurements of 31" min/44" max quoted on the web page are probably the least measurements, going by mine.Very pleased, all in all. And being able to get it next day was a bonus, as I remembered two days before going away that my last bum bag had disintegrated!
