As a formal personal trainer, this type of Caliper is much more reliable and accurate then the other flimsy plastic type. If you are not familiar with using calipers, just know, you are using this really only to get a base line of where you are. The idea is, get someone to do it the same each time. If done that way its very accurate. On the other hand, if you have differnt people do the measurements who use a slightly different technique, while it will still work it just wont be as accurate. I have used a friend's calipers of the same type before while we were teaching a course in human body assessment and I liked that this brand does what it needs to accurately for an affordable price.

Most informative usage brochure I have found for this type of product. Tells, and shows, how to effectively use the product and then calculate you BF percentage. Probably the most cost effective way to figure it out. BF percentage is so much more important than just your weight. It's what your weighing, not what you weigh.Highly recommended.

I didn't read in any of the reviews that this is a very hard plastic and hurts a lot when squeezing your fat. Sheeze! Had I read this, I never would have bought it. Instead, everyone raved about this and gave it great reviews. Now, this darn thing is sitting in one of my drawers and I have yet to measure my fat. Not worth the money and I really wish I hadn't of bought it.

I bought this item for my exercise physiology class in PT school. Before I bought it I already knew this is what I wanted because I got to try many different ones in class. Amongst the ones we tried were Accufitness, Fattrack, and the very expensive Lange Skinfold. Well, as surprising as may seen this caliper was better than all of those including the $200 Lange skinfold. Yes, it is a little tricky to use and you should practice because there is a chance of hurting the other person you are testing by pulling their skin. But once you get used to it is worth it.
