The knife itself is hefty and seems to be heavy steel of decent quality. That said it was extremely dull out of the box and does not come with a sharpener. Also, as noted in some other reviews, the compass does not work and on mine it actually fell off the knife handle within 10 minutes of unboxing. Seems to have been held on with really shoddy glue and is only there for decoration. There is a hole underneath the compass in the handle so now (with the compass having fallen off) water will go right into the container area. The capsule in the handle has no cap on it so it's utterly useless against the elements as the items stored inside have 0 protection from water. Overall pretty disappointing but I'll have to make due as this was purchased for a trip and I don't have time to return it and get a different survival knife before I leave.

This knife is very tough for how it's constructed. It could handle very light baton work as well. The hardness of the steel is strong and you would feel it in your hand very well. When I received the item edge is sharp now and I would say it could last a long time without sharpening.For survival purpose this knife is loaded with all the tools you needed to survive in a jungle. Compass is very useful; and it also comes with matches, oh well i would prefer a fire starter :)This is a Perfect knife to pack into your backpack for your outdoor trip. Sheath looks like leather which is very nice. It is holding the knife very secure. This is a very nice knife, strong, durable and it is perfect for any outdoorsman. Good knife well made and heavier than it looks. Only complaint would be the survival equipment in the handle was incomplete and small and there was no cap on the plastic tube. Also it arrived with a compass that does not work. But even with all that im still happy with it.

The actual knife is nice but the compass does not work and the tube that holds the matches and other stuff doesn't even have a cap on it. Therefore the matches will not stay dry if the knife gets wet.

This is not a cheap kids toy. A cheap kids toy has a plastic handle and a bottle opener on the blade. This knife has an aluminum handle. The blade is pressed into the handle, bolted would have been preferable. Otherwise this knife is well constructed.

It's pretty nice but wished the compas worked.

Bought this for my best friend and he loved it but they compass that comes with it is fake.

Dull out of the box and the compass doesn't work...
