For me, the trick to mounting these hooks was to protect the hook with a dishtowel and use a hammer to lightly tap them into place at the top of the molding. Though not an exact fit, the curve aligned pretty nicely with my molding as you can see from the photos. They feel secure and are working fine.

Sturdy and secure. I must bend them slightly to conform to my molding and the finish is not impacted at all.

This was our second box of these hooks. They’re great, but we had to grind them down—in the back, where it doesn’t show—to fit over our picture rail molding. They’re strong, i.e. not flimsy at all. Because the top hook is too long for our trim, the bottom hook stood out, away from the wall. Maybe they would fit different picture rail molding better. We’ll definitely buy them again.

Terrific!!! Moved into new apt with old picture hanging molding and these hooks allowed me to easily hang nearly all my art without hammering a single nail or hook into the wall. I was thrilled… and so was the landlord.

These work perfect with the picture moulding rails I bought from House of Antique Hardware plus some picture hanging wire and aluminium picture wire crimps.

I think these do the job but they don't look very nice. The part that curves over the top of the chair rail seems longer on the backside than it needs to be. Also, the backside is cut straight across (no rounded corners) so when you hang it, it wants to dig into the sheetrock. I found a different style and they fit the picture rail better and just look more refined. I've returned this style and ordered more of the other.
