Prolly need 2 packs
Hey, I wanted to give this a 4.5 star review but since it won't allow me, I'll leave it at five because I think the quality of the product is great for the price. I would knock 1/2 star off because, well, if the pack just had 3 more tiles it would be perfect. So here's my spiel://*****Quality of product:PRO - Soft, durable and attractiveCON - My pack, a few of the "tiles" looked to be worn down a little, I assume this is from the way they were packaged, this doesn't bother me so I'm not knocking any stars off.//*****Size Of Product:PRO - For my purposes, it's fine. For the price I get adequate coverage for my bench, and set of 2 dumbbells.CON - For someone covering a gym floor, you'll need more than a few packs. The picture on this site makes no sense, it's of some comically undersized bench with 2.5 pound dumbbells, and to quote Back To the Future, reeks of some "...pretty mediocre photographic fakery."Explanation:Like others have said, and some I feel exaggeratedly so, you might want a second or third pack, depending on your intentions. I just have a simple Universal 5 position bench (which I love) and it barely fits. The legs of the bench go right up the edges. Not the edge of the product but (please I hope this makes sense) right up to the area where the solid portion of the mat ends and the jigsawed edges start. So it basically rests completely on the mat. This is the bench I have: Universal Five-Position Weight Bench Bottom Line:Gym equipment is expensive, and buying it on a budget can be near impossible. I'm not looking to turn into MR. Universe, or even Mr. Detroit for that matter. I just want some decent equipment to help me tone up, lose a few pounds and maintain a healthy body. This product is cost effective and good quality. I highly recommend it with the one caveat that you will most likely need 2 packs, though you may be able to live with just one, at this price, you won't.

Good deal on what seems to be a good product
I have bought several packs of these mats to put down in my basement, which I am turning into a home gym. So far they fit the 3 F's (Fit, Form, Function). They fit together snugly, look pretty good, and are soft to stand, walk across, or exercise on. I haven't had them long, and haven't used them for much more than doing warm up or cool down exercises. So far I am happy with them. I only give them a 4 star rating for the following reasons: the colors don't all match, they vary from an almost black to shiny grey, which gives a bit of a checkerboard appearance where i would prefer one uniform color. They fit snugly, but some of them may require a bit of trimming to get them to fit 'evenly' together, and to maintain a flush surface without one rising a bit higher than another (again, a uniform appearance). They don't stick very well to concrete surface. If you get these, you can expect to put something on the bottom of them to keep them from sliding around on the floor if you're jumping around from side to side on top of them. In my opinion, none of those would be deal breakers. I have bought several packs, and plan on buying more. They are a very good deal for the price point, and very comfortable to exercise on.

Good for what it's made for
I use this to put under my Total Gym machine and it works fairly well for that purpose. I'm around 200lbs and the machine doesn't really slide all that much. Too simply use this for barbells this should work perfectly (assuming you are not recklessly slamming them down.) These mats have decent thickness but they are not that dense and durable. For example I have this folding metal stairs in my ceiling leading to my attic. The bottom of the stairs (that may contact with the floor) are metal and can be abrasive to the hardwood floors. I wanted to try out a couple of these puzzle pieces to protect the floor. Bad idea there. The metal stairs went through the mats and scratched the floors underneath. This was only after going up and down the stairs one time. Now, in fairness this is not what the item was intended for. However, if you are planning on getting creative with this item you may want to know exactly how durable these are. Overall, a good product for what they are meant for.

Great for placing under a pool!
Last year, we purchased an "Intex Easy Set-Up Pool." In placing this pool on a grassy area, rather than sand, we needed something to use as a buffer against the grass. These foam puzzle pieces turned out to be the perfect solution. The grass didn't grow up through them or in between the connecting notches and they made a nice, cushioning floor to the pool. You can hose them off if they get dirty and they dry quickly when left in the sun.One important thing to note: You can't interchange these with the larger 24" multicolored mats that are made for children's play areas. The notches do not line up. If this had been possible, they would have completely satisfied us. This is the only reason why I did not give them 5 stars. We liked them enough to purchase again, though... so I highly recommend for placing under any inflatable pool or easy set-up pool.

Good for light use
I bought these to cover some concrete floor in my basement where my hockey equipment is stored. Since I don't' want to dull up the edges on my skates, it's a nice cushioned surface to put my skates on as they dry. The 1/2 inch pad is plenty to keep my skates away from the concrete. As other reviewers have said, the tiles are a little smaller than you might think, so I'd measure the floor carefully first. I did not have any problems with the tiles fitting together and if they weren't exactly the same color, they were close enough as my basement isn't that well lit anyhow. I would say that these are probably not ideal if you are going to be putting down heavy items such as large dumbbells. They don't seem like they'd be durable enough for dense/heavy things to be stored on them.
