Nagoya NA-701 SMA-Male 8-Inch Whip VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna for YAESU, Vertex, TYT, and Wouxun Radio

This antenna is always my go to when needing to replace stock antennas. Perfect size and moves with you versus the stock antennas that may become a pain in the side. Works great and as described. No issues.

I needed a shorter 2m/70cm antenna for a trip. We were flying and it had to be in my carry on, and then used mostly in a rental car. This was a good option. Not my go to for at home but compact with minimal trade off. TYT MD UV380. (Update- this IS my go to even at home now. Somehow it almost always performs better than my NA-771, which I like as well).

This definitely is a genuine Nagoya antenna. It is so easy to get knockoff antennas these days, but this the real deal. I replaced the factory antenna on my Icom ID-51 with this Nagoya 701 and it has made a world of difference. I wasn't expecting such a big improvement, but I now realize how deaf my radio was with the stock antenna. HT antennas are a compromise to begin with no matter what brand you get but some are definitely better than others such as the case with this one. I would definitely buy this antenna again without hesitation. Much better receive on both vhf and uhf.

This antenna does work. It installs easily. I mean, it just screws on. How hard can that be? :) I was able to access the local repeater just fine from my back yard but users reported they really couldn't tell the difference between this one and the OEM that came with the HT. This next part is the reason I gave this four stars. As for the fit, I don't know if I'd trust it in the rain as there is a small 1/16" gap between the base of the antenna and the antenna mount. I did install the provided O-ring but even that still leaves a gap (see pictures). I'd use it but only if it's not raining as I really don't like the idea of having part of the antenna mount exposed like that. But that's just me, your preference may vary. I've attached before and after pictures comparing the OEM antenna with this after market version for your review. Bottom line: Would I take this out into the field? You betcha. But I'd still take the OEM with me ... just in case it starts to rain. 73's

Great antenna. Got this as a replacement for the stock duck antenna for my Icom ID-52A Plus. The stock antenna is fine, but I carry it everywhere and appreciate the flexibility of the 701…I don’t worry about banging it against my steering wheel, a door, wife, etc. Performs about the same as the stock antenna on both VHF/UHF (2m & 70cm). I do have the 771 (15”), which performs MUCH better for when I’m in the field or gripping the side of a mountain with my teeth but it’s a little impractical length-wise for daily carry.

Excellent GMRS antenna.

Great antenna. Very worthwhile upgrade to the rubber duck that came with your sweet new HT, and way less dorky (but still less gain) than something like a Signal Stick for daily use. Perfect compromise. Use it daily on my FT5D but when I know I’m working a serious situation I still reach for the signal stick.

I noticed higher signal strength on both uhf and vhf transmissions in A/B testing with stock rubber duck antennas. Significantly better NOAA weather channel reception. I’m happy with this purchase.

Very well constructed and tuned antenna and GENUINE have been duped before online but this is the real deal big thumbs up 👍

Better then original antenna, it’s a good replacement but don’t expect a world of difference.
