No problem on both accounts. The biggest issue I had installing this was with my style of lift I couldn't install it like the directions call for. The motor housing would hit the boat if I did. Because of that, I had to reverse the polarity on the motor (wire swap in the switch box) and had to make a bracket that gave a good place to connect the tensioning strap. In general, I only use the motor for up and dissengage the wheel for down, as it is much faster. Again, I was surprised that I didn't think the motor would not spin when the release lever on the crank wheel was disengaged due to the amount of torque it has, but the motor holds in place and doesn't over speed when I do use it to lower the boat. My neighbor has had the Lift Mate (although there seems to be some changes to it verses this one) for about 4 years. He's had some problems with the brushes, because of that I purchased the cover for the motor (was not available on Amazon - found it somewhere else for around $18). He also, left it out doors year round.My other long term concerns will be to see how well the staps that are used with it to hold the mounting plate in place hold up. I wanted to replace them with a square U-bolt but haven't come up with the size I need. Also I get a fair amount of flex in the support mechanism due to a slightly bent wheel and will be curious to see if that has an effect on the weld to the bracket.A couple of other adaptations I made to make it work on my lift:1: There seems to be a slight twist in the beam I mounted the bracket to and that caused the system to be out of plumb. I fixed that by offsetting the upper tube to the tube with the mounting bracket on it by adding a couple of washers to one the 2 bolts that hold it together2: There is a 3/4" monting bolt that is long enough to allow for spacing the motor to the support bracket. Mine had to be space out to the max. I was concerned about mainting that gap, so I cut a piece of 3/4" PC water pipe to act as a bushing on the bolt. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great product and half the price. *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2015* Works real well.. We have 2 of these.. The first one we got for our pontoon lift and while it slows down a little lifting. Itd gotten the job done on our Hewit lift for 2 years.. We recently had to replace our old power lift with a new crank and wheel on our shoremaster and added one of these motors and its just as reliable..You will have to add a little pressure to the motor if your trying to lift the boat in the rain..
