Exactly what I needed to jump up the GUI learning curve!
I have been trying to self-learn Python and how to make a reasonable GUI, but was struggling with too many new things to learn just to get started. This book was perfect! The first chapter very efficiently walks the reader through all the essential features and widgets to create GUI's for almost any imaginable task. Later chapters focus on detailed applications of what was given in summary form in chapter 1. I would recommend the free download of all the example code as it is tedious to type all the examples covered without a typo here or there resulting in debugging.

Very good book indeed
This book is really clear and useful. It contains a lot of code and examples to develop a full-completed application. It answer all the question that a developer faces while programming. I bought just to learn Tkinter but I find it useful for other aspect of the programming fron the start to the end. It worth the price.

Generally a good book covering interesting aspects of tkinter
Generally a good book covering interesting aspects of tkinter. Most of the programs are for demonstration purposes only and if you play with them for awhile you'll find many bugs. For example, in the text editor (chapter) you'll find at least the following:1) The scroll bar covers up the last couple characters of the text box.2) The line numbers do not handle the wrap='word' condition correctly. This one seems hard to fix but it would be worth the author's time to mention it.3) The status line leaves a ghost if you scroll.4) If you read in a file larger than the window the line numbers again do not work properly.
