Delicious treats for even non-Paleo followers
Even if you don’t eat strictly Paleo, these recipes are great options for people who enjoy baking but would like to limit their sugar and refined grain intake and eat more fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. If you’re new to Paleo baking, like I was, be sure to read the introduction. The author walks you through stocking your Paleo pantry, and she gives strategies for adapting traditional dessert recipes using Paleo-friendly ingredients. Note: She relies quite heavily on coconut products, but since I don’t like coconut, I made a few substitutions. I found that the amount of coconut flour she called for in most of the recipes was small enough that the flavor wasn’t an issue, but I swapped in grass-fed organic butter for coconut oil and unsweetened almond milk for coconut milk where she called for those ingredients. I’m sure that changes the flavor somewhat, but I think the results were good. There are many recipes that rely so heavily on coconut-based ingredients that I’ll just have to skip them, but for the most part I think these substitutions will work fine. The recipes are organized seasonally, and I started with the fall and year-round recipes. I look forward to testing the winter, spring, and summer recipes over the next year! Here are the recipes I've tried so far:Apple Spice Cakie Cookies—This might be my favorite of the recipes I tested. They had a great flavor and texture, and although I was initially hesitant about storing cookies in the refrigerator, that really did work well to keep them moist and soft. I will be making these again.Carrot-Apple Whoopie Pies—I was suspicious of the “cream” filling made from cashews, but it was surprisingly good. My filling didn’t get as fluffy or firm as hers looks in the book photo, but that’s probably due to my small, aging food processor. Overall, quite yummy.Maple Date Pecan Squares—These didn’t quite turn out for me, I think partly because I found the cloves in the crust a little overpowering (I’ll use half the amount the next time I make these). But the bars also fell apart when I tried to cut them (maybe they needed more of the non-pecan ingredients in the filling? Or maybe this is a case where my substituting almond milk for coconut milk just won’t work?). When I make them again, I will also be sure to refrigerate them as she suggests, since the crust got really soft and almost soggy as the bars sat at room temperature.Dark Chocolate Cakie Cookies—Really good, although the banana flavor is noticeable. I love chocolate and banana together, so that wasn’t an issue for me, but be aware that it’s not a straight chocolate cookie.Dark Chocolate Cacao Cinnamon Dusted Almonds—Totally addictive, just as she warns in the recipe intro. Use really good quality chocolate, since the chocolate will make or break this recipe. I was able to use double the amount of almonds that she called for, and probably could have even managed another quarter cup. And as the chocolate hardened, it formed more of an almond bark, so I had to break it apart before tossing with the cacao and cinnamon. But I will be making these again, soon.

Great recipes and tips
I have lots of family with food restrictions and these desserts cover just about all of them. Have baked several recipes out of it and almost all of them have been good considering most of them have no gluten/dairy/processed sugars.

This is a great little cookbook book for those who want paleo treats or want to make a nice dessert for special occasions. I especially like that the book is organized by season. I was just a bit disappointed that so many recipes use nut flours. Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone on a paleo diet; the recipes will satisfy those healthy cravings one gets season by season.

Yums!
I actually haven't made any of the recipes yet, but I've checked them all out and can't wait. I was lucky enough to not have bad cravings or sugar withdrawal. I just want to save these for special occassions.

A book with misprinted pages!
Very disappointed when I received this book for a couple of reasons. First and foremost I bought it as a gift, and second when I scanned the book there were 2 pages that were not printed entirely, thus the reason for my return. I’m out trying to return the book and I must go to a UPS store to make my return so that they can print the label. Just more of an inconvenience since I used to be able to print labels and drop a return package right off. Just more frustration!

I love that it gave the seasonal option
I love that it gave the seasonal option. Just wasn't prepared for the amount of eggs that some recipes called for.

a must have book whether your paleo or not
I have just brought the kindle edition and pre ordered the hard copy on the strength of an eBook brought from heathers site multiply delicious.com having made three of her recipes from the e book (all savory) they were all amazing and my son who has sensory issues loved them too which is nothing short of a miracle!! the thought of making more food that tastes wonderful and is nutrient dense and tasty has me longing to get back in the kitchen. in this book oven temps are done both in Fahrenheit and Centigrade and ingredients are easy to find in the UK so this is a win win situation. here in the UK we have some great sources for easy to access organic ethically produced foods online whatever you needs and wants and alright they do cost abit more but in terms of long term health it is a small price to pay for meat and poultry not chocked full of growth hormone, and other nasties that affect our health and you tend to be less wasteful and we have great farmers markets. Heather has produced healthy family friendly food which tastes amazing, and doesn't take hours to prepare and cook wonderful what more could a busy family want in this book all those wonderful treats from cookies to chocolate cake wonderful tarts and crumbles all have their place, instructions are clear and concise, almond flour and coconut flour coconut oils etc are all easy to get hold of here online or at health food stores, some supermarkets and of course Amazon itself. this book is also great for those with gluten issues have a look at the preview you wont be sorry the just order it!!Heather is a qualified holistic nutritionist, wife and mother of two little girls and cross fitter who is committed to helping people change their lives with the Paleo way of eating. from her blog you get a good sense of the woman and her passion and integrity. I emailed heather with a query and she mailed me back next day which was impressive. keep writing books like these Heather I will be back for more!

Geniales Buch
