The reel works great. Install was easy
The reel works great. Install was easy. The one perturbation is the safety lockout features, in the form of two timers. One cannot simply switch the reel electronics into operating mode, with the key, and then use the remote to activate direction of operation. The reel electronics turns off after 5 minuets of non-activity. The remote has to be activated, with the simultaneous press of both buttons. It then will turn off after 5 minuets. Overkill, in my opinion. The fact that the reel electronics has a key, alone should be enough. Give me the option to just turn the key on, and leave it on. Not a stupid timer. To me, these timers serve little purpose. It will not prevent a drowning accident. In fact, it could result in one, in the case of a curious animal falling into the pool, and an observer not able to quickly uncover the pool. Why not a settable, variable, number of turns of the reel, for the cover and uncover process. That could also be done with optical, or other type sensors.

Inflated price for an aluminum "fishing" reel... ...
Inflated price for an aluminum "fishing" reel...does what it is supposed to do...may be automated, however requires vigilance especially during retraction of the pool blanket because of "bunching" issues & reel getting off-center..

JUNK DON’T BUY!!!!’n
jUNK dON’T bUY . Terrible customer service . Bases rusted out completely . Contacted Pool Boy . They offered me aluminium based (which it should have originally come with )The cost was more expensive than the original purchase with zero offer of discount . I didn’t realize there was a three year warranty and was just outside of that if not it would have been covered .

Can't help but offer sound advice to those on the edge.
I do not own this model but have a automatic inground pool cover and felt that some objective advice should be added to the comments in regard to use not quality. When placing a automatic cover whether for sun or full coverage the most important part of assembly is in the placement of the fabric. It is critical to not having any bunching issues or side tracking that the cloth be completely unrolled, add slightly extra in the center and manually roll up. If done correctly you will not have any bunching issues or side track bindings. I hope this helps some to resolve any issues they have and to learn someone who is on the fence. These things help to keep the pool season longer as well as keeping the pool cleaner of fallen objects from settling to the bottom of the pool.
