Very amazing.
Despite it being a rushed game, I never thought this game was ever bad. I bought this to add to my Sonic 2000s collection but I did ordered this before but it had no case so I ordered this to complete my collection. Game is very hard, but I got used to its physics and gameplay management. Sometimes the camera can be a little excessive, but the more you play the better you get at the game. On the high speed segments, you gotta lock in and pay attention because your character will auto run for you, watch out! I’m a big fan of the 2006 graphics, I love old retro graphics.

The Sonic franchise at its best!!!!!
First off, let me start out my review by saying that most sonic fans say that this game is one of the worst sonic games and one of the worst games ever. They say this because of the load times being too lengthy but this is not enough to ruin the game for me. They also say this because of some of the glitches that exist in the game and also it is definitely a high level of difficulty compared to a game like Sonic Colors. But once you learn how to play it, it is really easy and fun. Many people say they like the music in the game--I do not enjoy the music. Here is what I like about the game: The story is great, there is a lot going on, true there are some holes in the plot but it is nothing that isn't present in other Sonic games. The graphics are good especially in the computer generated cut scenes--I don't think I've ever seen better in any sonic game. It has nine different playable characters which gives you a lot of variety. This game is very long and it takes place in the real world (another complaint by Sonic fans). This allows for beautiful environments but completely unlike Sonic Colors where you run through Mt. Junkfood-- it also has humans in it not just cartoon figures. The game is safe for kids but without being so hokey as Sonic Heroes and other older Sonic titles. I have actually watched a youtube video where a guy was screaming because he could see Dr. Eggmans eyes----get a grip man!!!! Also Eggman's Mechs look intimidating as opposed to the old Genesis titles which look like a wheel with little stubs. You have lots of levels and lots of bosses to defeat. There is also lots of side missions I enjoy this especially one in Shadows storymode. In closing, I love the game play, I love that you get to play as a lot of characters, I love the length of the game, I love the graphics, I love the story except that Sonic and Elise were love interests (I'm pretty sure there are laws against that). Even though a lot of people think this is the worst game ever, I think its the best game ever and to those people on youtube that guzzled whiskey and took pills that were upset over this game as they reviewed it--Stop trying to recapture your lost youth and remember----You know what they say about opinions!!!!!

Really fun Sonic the Hedgehog game
I bought this game for my daughter's birthday because my kids are really into anything Sonic the Hedgehog and let me start from some of the features that they liked from the moment they started playing it let's just say from the moment they put it in they have not want to stop playing it and also when I was watching them play the game and I had noticed that the graphics are really awesome for a Xbox360 game also on the plus side Xbox one of your eventual be going to make it compatible so you can play it on your Xbox One on top of your Xbox 360 but overall this game was pretty awesome and my kids really seem to like it wasn't really hard for them to catch on and play some of the other Sonic games I've got four more little bit harder the play but this one was really easy even I was able to play it and I usually can't play these type of games but overall I'd highly recommend this game to anybody that has children that are in the Sonic the Hedgehog or just wants to get a gift for a family member or knows a good that's in the Sonic this would be an excellent idea you have any questions about this game feel free to ask me also if you can review to be helpful please check this is helpful

Actually enjoyable with the right mindset. Make sure to get the 360 version
So, this game clearly has a reputation that precedes itself and is famous for being one of the worst games of all time. It has been chastised, mocked and run through the wringer many, many times over the years, and so I've always been aware of its various faults through second-hand accounts and videos online. And yet, a curiosity lingered over the years since its release, and eventually grew over time to the point I decided to give the game a go myself, and see what it was actually like to play it. And sure enough, past the absolutely gorgeous opening cutscene (really, it's almost hard to believe it's nearly 20 years old), the game opens up to a clearly underdeveloped graphical and gameplay engine that houses the sincere vision of the developers within. I was rather shocked by how poorly Sonic controlled; he does not move like he did in previous games here. He has almost no momentum whatsoever, with the slightest jump or collision with a wall or enemy making him come to a screeching halt. Just slightly tilting the control stick causes him to careen in another direction. And after what felt like a dozen attempts to clear even the first Mach Speed section, it was easy to see why this game was so frustrating to others and why it was reviled the way it was. And yet, somehow, I was compelled to press forward. I didn't want to quit this game or move on to something else. Underneath the jerky controls and unpolished feel was a game that legitimately seeded a sense of improvement through its level design and twitch-reaction gameplay. In other words, the more I played, the more I improved. And getting used to the controls is a huge part of that. They are simply not very good, bottom-line, but, yes, it IS possible to get a hang of them and actually play it the way I want to. Unlike later games that would give out high rankings with little effort (looking over at Sonic Forces), getting 'S' Ranks in Sonic '06 is really rewarding and does feel like the result of actual practice in the levels. Performing well in this game isn't that far off of a sensation than the better games in the series. It's just takes a lot more patience and attuned handling here. Some parts of this game are just plain tedious, and altogether excessively hampered by the game's lack of polish. But even the most egregious moments, I feel, were outnumbered by what I believe the game did right. Speaking of doing things right, in terms of atmosphere this really is one of my favorite games in the entire series. The visuals and soundtrack marry each other to create a truly rich and moody feel to every one of the stages in the game. Often I would find myself just stopping in a level and looking around with the camera (a feature that wouldn't return until Frontiers) and really feeling immersed in the areas, with each one being completely unique from each other. There's one other things that this game does right, and does better than most games that would come after it: the coolness factor. The story, music, setting and Sonic's look create a tone that ages up the 3D Sonic aesthetic without taking itself too deathly seriously. (Although it will certainly succeed in doing that at times.) For me it feels like a natural progression of what Sonic Adventure 2 was doing, rather than the excessively sugary tone of Sonic Heroes, or the overtly edgy Shadow the Hedgehog. I'll admit that I am surprised by how much I enjoy this game. With practice I've gotten good enough that I can get through most levels relatively unscathed, and I've even gotten quite good at the Mach Speed sections due to many repeated attempts that rewarded me with memorization of the levels. Many have said that Sonic '06 is so bad that it's actually unplayable. It's not. It's completely possible to get through this game with skill provided by the right amount of practice, and of course a helping of patience to go with it. And that might not be for everyone, but it works for me. I feel that this game is worth a shot for the truly curious, and also the prepared given the game's various flaws. Just make sure you get the 360 version if you can; by installing the game to my 360's hard drive, the load times have been reduced quite a bit, and are actually fairly standard for a game from around this time. They're still frequent at times, the overall the benefit is significant. Also, there's less slowdown in the levels (though it still exists in parts) and the cutscenes actually mostly run at 60fps, which is a huge benefit in my eyes and helps the game feel cinematic. I'm not saying Sonic '06 is something of a misunderstood masterpiece. But I do believe it is a decent, playable game. Try to get a hold of it for cheap if you want to try it. You might come away pleasantly surprised like I did. Sometimes that firsthand experience really is all that matters, even if the weight of its unpopularity might hold you back from giving it a shot in the first place.

Not as terrible as its reputation suggests, but still pretty legendary in its hilarity. 8/10, needs more Tails.
