Let's you touch the warm but not hot surfaces while insulating the arm nearly up to the forearm in ambient heat. Touching HOT surfaces feel less trustworthy, like hot Cady iron handles or grabbing hot roasting pan handles from the oven. Judging by the description I thought these would just be good universal gloves but I'd rather buy welding gloves for the same price if I was going to try to pick up 400 degree F materials regularly.
