I am very pleased with this kayak paddle. Kayaking is a part of our active lifestyle and this paddle is perfect for my 9 year old grandson. The original paddle that came with his youth kayak was left behind at a campground so we needed to replace it. This paddle is made of plastic so it is lightweight and the length is just his size for his little arms. It arrived in a bubble bag and needed to be assembled as all of the parts easily screw together, he accomplished this by himself in about 5 minutes. The colors are vibrant and exactly as advertised, and my grandson handles it like a pro. I do recommend and will buy again if it also decides to stay behind at our next camp.

We previously purchased this exact oar for our daughter and it through lasted 5+ years of consistent usage. So we bought a new one! It is easy to assemble and disassemble. Comfortable grip for younger kids and easy to use. The only reason we needed a replacement is because where is screws together started getting worn and didn't screw together as tightly as it used to. For the price we didn't expect it to last forever so we were happy to buy a replacement knowing it's good quality.

Can’t yet comment on durability but the paddle looks good for it’s intended purpose — enabling kids to get paddling before they’re able to use an adult size. Its multiple pieces go together easily but… there are no directions. So look things over before you start. Make sure you notice the bump-like protrusions on the yellow center piece and how they should match up with the holes in the shaft halves, and need to stay seated as you tighten the collars that hold them in place. Also, and not surprisingly for this price, there is no adjustability to feather the blades. For a child, you likely don’t want them feathered anyway. However, when you screw the blades onto the shaft, you may or may not wind up with some arbitrary feathered position, as the machining on the plastic pieces is not super precise. As a workaround fix, try using some tape around the last threads to change the orientation one of the blades when it gets screwed in tightly. This seems to work. I don’t mean to scare off potential buyers with these cautions — I am satisfied with the product, as I couldn’t find a better choice.

Plastic paddle worked nicely as two when separated for our inner tubing. Exactly what we hoped for. Please keep stored out of the sun. With our record hot weather the paddle did soften and became misshaped but that is on me for inappropriate storage.

Knocking off two stars. One star down became it does not say pelican anywhere on this paddle, not even a sticker. This is a plain plastic, VERY small toddlers paddle, this is NOT A YOUTH sized paddle. Just a heads up before you buy. This paddle is NOT the same paddle that comes with the pelican youth kayak either. This looks exactly like the paddle that comes with the $20 inflatable orange and black one person. Assembly was easy, there is no adjusting the fit, sturdiness it’s just plastic and not compound plastic either just soft drop of the ground it cracks plastic. Fit is for a small child or Toddler. Save your money. This was not a great Christmas morning gift idea, I wish I had opened the box and looked at it before giving it to my 8 year old nephew- he was not impressed.

I was going to give it four stars but it really should be more like 4 1/2 stars. Reason I was thinking of taking a star away was because the material and the connections of the 2 sides of the paddle seems a bit breakable. Potentially. Then I reconsidered taking away that star ones I thought about the price that I paid compared to the competition out there that is $30-$40 more. I think this is a, "you get what you paid for" situation but as long as your junior paddler is not doing anything heavy duty, you will be fine.

i bought this for the kids to play with in the pool, but I also use it, it is great for exercising the arms.

Good paddles are not cheap. This one is cheap. Its for the little kiddies, make no mistake. But, hey- it was inexpensive. And it will do the job just fine.

Good value for money. Good length for 7 yrs old, should be good for another a year or two.
