Laxatone, Hairball Gel for Cats, Tuna, 4.25 oz

I recently adopted a bonded pair of cats. The one grooms excessively which of course leads to the gross puking of hairballs...daily! He was at times puking multiple times daily and hardly using the litter box for #2 as food wasn't digesting properly. After a Vet visit to rule out any blockages she suggested hairball gel. After reading reviews I tried some other well reviewed treat supplement that worked but only for a few days, then back to daily puking. Went ahead and did some more research then bought this. First time I put it on his paw as instructed. He of course licked it but was mad at the process. The next time I just put it in his bowl by itself an hour before feeding and he gobbled it up wanting more! The next day I gave it off my fingers with the same result. It doesn't have much of an odor to me but my Kitty Shadow seems to love it and doesn't mind the consistency either, which I honestly expected to be a bit thicker. Fine it isn't as he likes it but I have to split the dose when giving off my fingers and can see this being a problem for cats that are more problematic. Paw dosing was pretty messy and I cant imagine a whole tsp of anything on a tiny kitty nose! I wasn't too sure how I felt about the ingredients and giving petroleum to my pet but seeing as though my Vet recommended it, it has worked, my cat has a better appetite and honestly is now so much happier and playful, the benefits outweigh any potential risks I may have made up in my head. I'm so thankful for this product, it will now be a staple in my feline household!

I used this hairball med on my other cat. It worked well. The cat I have now has loner hair and hairball issues. It takes 2 people to give this to her. One person to open her mouth. I know it works well to help with hairballs but it's wasted on Louise!

I have a long-haired Main Coon mix named Leo. He meticulously grooms himself, then does the same to his 19-pound longer-haired Norwegian pal. A good day meant just one huge hairball; most days meant two or three. After trying fish oil and various other failed experiments, I broke down and bought some of this Tomlyn's stuff. Problem instantly and TOTALLY solved! I do have to give him about a 1" ribbon of it every day (it comes out of the tube like thick, gooey toothpaste.) If I miss a day I can expect a small hairball somewhere. I've tried both the tuna and the catnip flavors, and he loves them both so much he tries to eat them straight out of the tube. I just squeeze some of it into a small stainless steel bowl and he licks the bowl completely clean. Fortunately the Norwegian (who never gets hairballs) won't touch the stuff, so I know it ends up in the right cat! I tried a different brand of this stuff and Leo won't touch it, so I buy the Tomlyn's exclusively. Now I don't have search the bed every night before I climb in! UPDATE: After six months, Leo the hairball machine suddenly lost his taste for Laxatone. He used to gorge on it out of the tube. Now he walks away from every flavor of it. I began mixing it into the wet food that both cats get every day, and for several month now they've eaten it without objection. It means that both cats are eating the Tomlyn's when only one of them really needs it, so I'm using twice as much as before. That's not a problem. As long as it continues to do the job, the cost is no issue at all.

I purchased two of these - all made from the same company, but marketed under different brand names. We picked the tuna flavor. When both tubes arrived, we realized that this is all the same product, same ingredients, same tube size, etc. They took this product and marketed using different catchy names, but made by the same company - so be vigilant about this. We sooo wanted this gel to work - because our 4 indoor cats tend to choke up quite a bit with hair balls. But alas, nothing worked. Our cats won't even go near this gel. We tried putting some on their mouths in order to cause a licking action, but they did so and you could see they absolutely hated the taste and sticky texture. Now, whenever I go to unscrew the cap on the tube, the cats will go running away - what a waste of money. The same can be said for the other tube (similar product - in fact, the ingredients are the same). My cats hated it - a total waste of money! Remember, this product uses petroleum products in this gel (petrolatum) - yuck! And somehow, our cats can sense this. Would we lick a gel that had petroleum products in it? I don't think so. This was a complete waste of money for us. If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. Both tubes that I purchased are sitting on a shelf as none of the cats will near them.

I bought this because my cat has been throwing up furr balls. She is long haired and constantly licking herself. I had bought one previously that was a cheaper brand and it didn’t work at all. So I decided to try this since it has a flavor she likes. I just put it on her leg if she won’t take it off my finger but she licks all of it off. She has not had any side effects from it, it’s easy to use, it’s a very thick gel and easy to digest. The appearance kind of resembles tooth paste. I bought the one with the salmon flavor and she loves it. So far it has worked well for her.

Took my cat to a vet a while back because she was vomiting and having issues in the litter box. Vet charged me $1200 just to say she was dying from a blockage and there was nothing they could do. A co-worker told me about this stuff and said to never trust a vet about blockages unless it's a urinary one. I gave this to my cat for 3 days and she finally used the litter box... and promptly relieved herself of a massive hairball and ribbon. She's back to her playful cuddly self again!

One of my cats is a MLH cat so she has an issue with hairballs. I give this to her on a regular basis to make sure that the hairballs pass through her system & it works! I have also used this after surgery to other cats, when their system is 'off kilter' with success. It is gentle product & causes no distress. Most cats get used to the Tuna flavour, & giving it to them has never been a problem.

Our very long-haired cat hated it being put on her paws or nose and ran away, dropping the product over the tiles and carpet. I tried to put small bits on outside the house - she is on a lead - which proved very difficult, so I gave it away. I still have the full tube and may try again with reward should I have any success. In the mean time we have started to squeeze a salmon oil capsule on to her nightly wet food and she is bringing up very few hair balls. Thank you for asking.

Texture is very sticky but my cat loves the flavour and it does really help with his hairballs.
