Motorola DECT 6.0 Enhanced Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System L701

This is a great phone with a silent answering machine. If you turn the ringer off, this phone will answer and take the message without disturbing you. If you want to know if you have messages, just look at the phone with the number of messages flashing. I like this one because this one has the silent answering machine.

I guess as DECT 6.0 phones go this is just as good as another. I needed to get a new phone/answering machine quickly so after reviewing a few of these phones I chose this one. Soy, what a surprise. I was expecting a heavier weight, which might be good, better quality sound in the speakers and recordings, and easier push button handling of the voicemail answering system. The sound quality is bad, the message replay procedure is very hard to figure out (I'm a Mac user for too many years to count), and if they would just make it intuitive to use is that asking too much. I'll keep it for now, but am reviewing the others available at BestBuy, WalMart, Sam's Club and elsewhere because someone has to make a better Phone with answering machine. I really am willing to pay the extra $5-10 to get a decent quality, understandable phone. Maybe we could build a new phone in America!!! Well, I guess that won't happen since TARP is all used up by now. :o)

Bought this product about 45 days back, nice feel and look, works alright for about 20-25 days, was happy with the purchase. And then one fine day there is suddenly lot of noise, you just can't hear the conversation. Rebooted, reconnected to the base, works fine for another week or so. I usually leave the handset on the base station for charging in the night so don't have the idea how much is the back up time. One night I forgot to do so , and the battery was dead. And then I realized the battery backup has gone down to few hours.This happened right after the 30 days return period of Amazon. Called Amazon to find out what next, they gave me a phone number to call which was Motorola Mobility number, they gave me another and again I got another number so after getting redirected 3 times I get to the right people, its warranty management company working for Motorola. Then I am promised a replacement battery as soon as possible, well I didn't pay much attention to "POSSIBLE" and I didn't receive the battery for next week. Called them again, only to know that they haven't even processed the order for new battery yet as they are running behind on the processing. And they can not give me an estimate when will I get a new battery. So, in few words, buy another phone which works Jan-24-13 I got a replacement phone and that one just works great!! moving my rating to 3*

Didn't really need a phone, but got lower internet rate with it and I can use my FAX machine (have I ever used it?). Excellent product although you don't really need the answering system since most VOIP phone services include voicemail service already.

For the money it's an okay wireless phone. I can't really compare. The last wireless phone I bought was in the 90s; the Cobra handset featured on Seinfeld. Unfortunately, the earpiece speaker with this L701 does not function, so I can only use it in speakerphone mode, using the second speaker on the backside of the handset. It actually took me awhile to figure out, because the feature buttons are less than intuitive, and I assumed I was doing something wrong. I Googled the issue, and it appears that Motorola had a huge problem with faulty speakers in their supply chain. I give this product two stars because it seems their quality control sucks. Which is a shame, because I actually chose Motorola based on their reputation for quality telecom equipment. I took my phone apart--so no returning--hoping it was just a broken wire somewhere, but it's definitely a faulty component. I'll have to buy a replacement handset, and in the meantime I'm stuck talking to people on speakerphone.

I bought this to replace a very old cordless phone w/answering machine, the price was right and so far seems to work very well. Navigation of the features is not as clear as it could be, but the sound quality is a vast improvement over what we had!

Hi, Just got this phone. It has all the features we were looking for. Yet, at least the item we got had the following bugs 1. Time changed itself sometimes 3h ahead and later back again. 2. Background lighting permanently switches on and off every few seconds. 3. Menu cancels your editing of e.g. the handset name from one second to the next. Spooky phone - perfect for Halloween. Motorola.com does not have neither support nor product information about the L701. Probably Motorola wants to get out of this business. DON'T BUY

I might have got this phone from Amazon warehouse I don't remember, either way it was easy to set up, battery holds a charge for days, and has a very good range, I'm satisfied. Besides that I shopped around and saved quite a bit.

Very sturdy phone with good volume. Most importantly it works in the 1.9 ghz range so it doesn't interfere with the WiFi. Callerid did not work with airtel even after enabling it on the network, but that did not matter much to me, since I use this mainly for outgoing calls.

Delivery was prompt. Voice Clear. Range Satisfactory. One major disadvantage is that the keyboard is not backlit. Dialling in the night needs a torch. Motorola should have provided the backlit also.
