Dependable Oven Thermometer
Fabulous oven temperature gauge. I have wanted to test my new oven and bought a cheap one that showed the oven was cool by 25 degrees. I didn’t want to believe it because I thought the oven would be a perfect 350 degrees. I bought this dependable thermometer and sure enough our oven is perfect. This thermometer is so dependable. I’ve kept it in the oven to gauge my food cooking, and it’s durable, easy to read and cleans in a snap. GREAT! Worth the money!

Is It Accurate?
I wanted to check the accuracy of my Samsung oven temperature reading using a common thermometer. I am not expecting precision consistent heat readings over a very long time from this Rubbermaid inexpensive thermometer. My goal is to get a reasonably close reading. I paired this Rubbermaid thermometer with another well known inexpensive brand. Both were brand new during my initial test. Placement was in the middle of the center rack. There were no pans or other objects in my oven. My results are outlined below. Note: after the oven was tuned on for each test the door remained closed. Photos were taken pointing a flashlight through the door glass. The oven runtime shown in my photos is after preheating was complete. *** 350 DEGREES CHECK *** Oven runtime = 53 minutes (photo 4) Other brand reading = 357 (photo 5) Rubbermaid = 351 (photo 5) *** 375 DEGREES CHECK *** Oven runtime = 23 minutes (photo 6) Other brand reading = 383 (photo 7) Rubbermaid = 375 (photo 7) *** 400 DEGREES CHECK *** Oven runtime = 31 minutes (photo 8) Other brand reading = 411 (photo 9) Rubbermaid = 400 (photo 9) *** CONCLUSION *** My Rubbermaid thermometer consistently matched the oven reading very close. My other brand thermometer was consistently a little hotter and progressively hotter than the oven reading. If I have to choose I will say my Rubbermaid thermometer is more accurate. Again, both thermometers are very inexpensive and the best way I can judge would be to use maybe a professional device for heat measurements.

Good
The item appears to function as designed, it definitely helped me notice a discrepancy in my oven temperature. My only issue is that the base is approximately 1 3/4 inches wide. And so is the space between my rack grates. Even the slightest rattle causes to the thermometer to fall over.

Why you should and why you shouldn't
Great way to make my older oven function properly! This thing comes in great handy for me at home. I love to cook but my ovens Temperature control is way off. This was a simple, easy and effective way to fix that problem. Why you should: if you enjoy cooking and your grill or oven does not have a properly working thermostat this little item will save the day. It is accurate, easy to install, Easy-to-Read and we'll get your food on point again! Why you shouldn't: I have found that when pulling out the oven rack that this item hangs off of that sometimes with an abrupt pull due to the rack sticking this thermostat will fly off and fall into the oven. It's not the worst problem to have in the world but I do think that the manufacturer could have made the lip that grabs the oven rack just a bit longer so that this problem would not happen. this is an excellent product for the price and I would highly recommend it to anybody! It has improved my oven to the point where my bread is now where I needed to be, my dinner is cooked consistently and my wife and I are over all very happy with it.

It's not exciting, it's not sexy, but it's essential for every house
If you looked up the word functional in the dictionary you wouldn't be surprised to see an illustration of an oven thermometer. There is literally NOTHING sexy or appealing about this, but damn is it functional. And this one functions up there with the best of them. The reason we bought this was because I grew suspicious about the temp on our oven. We moved recently, and the oven was in situ, and really new and expensive looking so we didn't want to replace it. But it just wouldn't cook stuff - a key task for an oven - at least not in the time we thought it would. And I am obsessive, perhaps compulsively so, about timing the different parts of a meal to come out at the same time. I hate keeping things warm, or - oh the horror - reheating them, and it was ghastly to time and again have to put stuff back in because it wasn't done, in the meantime everything else not cooked in the oven was spoiling on the side. Enough to give me indigestion. So we bought this, threw it in and pre-heated. 20 degrees off! Who lived in this house before? Savages. Downloaded the PDF manual for the oven, fiddled with the settings and ran the pre-heat test again. The thermometer and oven were in sync and my life joined them again. Now things are cooked on time and meals are no longer ruined. All thanks to this wonderful, functional little thing. Everyone should have one - test your oven, even if you think it's okay, and check it again every few months. Ovens can drift, and it's better to be safe than ruin your meals. Recommended.

Know your temp!
This has saved my cooking and baking! My oven was running, consistently, 50 degrees cooler and this helped me realize it & the hot spots. It's eAsy to read, has handled being dropped a few times, and was a good deal. We've tested the accuracy against other thermometers and it's seems to be pretty spot on.

So reaction, but works
Seems to work, I was unsure what to believe. My stove is old (oven). I set the temp on the oven at 350° and waited for it to preheat. The beeper went off and I checked the temp. The gauge was at 200°. So now I am scratching my head??? I let it sit for another 15 minutes or so and then checked again. Now it was a tad over 300°. Again I waited and when I checked again, it was at 350°. I then a meatloaf in the oven and set the timer for an hour and fifteen. Open the door and look at the temp, just over 350° and I checked the internal temp of the meat loaf with my probe, it was at 120°. I meatloaf needed to be at 160°, so I set the timer for another fifteen minutes. Beeper went off and I open the door and noticed the temp the gauge was now at 200° from opening the door earlier. Checked the meat loaf and it needed another 15. Came back after the 15 and the the gauge was up to almost 300°. Checked the meatloaf and it was at 170°, so now I'm done cooking. I did pull out my temperature gun non-contact digital laser infrared IR thermometer after the Rubbermaid gauge came up to temp, but did not use it after that, I should have for a better understanding of this gauge. If I find it was my stove not performing right and not the gauge, I'll update this review Added pic, forgive the dirty stove. Not sure what to say about performance of the temp gauge. Works, but slow and no use

Great for lower temperatures
Great for rising bread. We have another one, but it did not go low enough for the rising temperature. We bake our own bread, so this product has been indispensable. It's even better made than our previous brand's one.

Absolutely suited for the job
I have used this 5-6 times in the oven so far. Works perfectly well. The dial is clear to read through the oven glass, hangs unobtrusively and seems to be of sturdy construction. Helped me understand how long it takes my oven to reach a particular temperature as well as the unequal distribution of heat in the oven (after 2-3 attempts)

Works very well.
Bought this item because my new cooker has a temperature dial which is not very accurate. 1 smidgy turn could add on 10°. Lags behind the cooker getting up to temperature but give it a few minutes it gets there.

Should have bought it ages ago!
This is a great product, which I should have bought ages ago. My cakes and breads always turned out under-baked after the amount of time mentioned in the recipe. As it happens, the built in thermometer in the oven beeps way before the oven comes to the right temp. For how inexpensive this Rubbermaid thermometer is, it does a great job and takes all the guesswork out of the equation.

Excelente producto by MLG CAPT SHADOW
Relacion CALIDAD/PRECIO: EXCELENTE!!. Lo recmiendo al 110% es super util.
