How to Draw and Paint Fairyland: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating the World of Fairies

The book is beautiful and very helpful with the getting ideas and inspiration for fairyland with all it's aspects like flowers, animals and more. About the "how to draw" part- I felt like it's a book of ideas but not for a begginer like me. The drawings inside are beautiful but in a very high level for a begginer. I will get back to it after I will get some practice with base fairies drawings. But even if you don't want to draw at all, I think this is a beautiful book to learn with about Fairyland.

I am not an artist. I have never drawn or painted anything before. I wanted to try something new for home decorating. This book has it all. I can't believe how well my projects are going!!! I've never had so many people comment about my room decorations. Just started with some small furniture hand painting...now going to a wall mural. I thought you had to be a "professional" artist...I had no idea how fun and easy it could be!!! I definately recommend this book for anyone who wants to try something new!!! It covers everything you need, from the fairies, flowers and plants, to their habitats. No experience needed to create beautiful works of art!!!

This book is visually beautiful. I immediately choose several pages to try recreating. I like that the author gives you the palette he used, instruction on how to paint certain plants and flowers, and step by step pictures. It's just a beautiful book to look through. Whimsical fairies, mushrooms, hedgehogs, mice etc. All lovingly placed in between green foliage and flowers.I liked the pages with the artists easels and brushes and hope to paint something like that for my craft room.

I deeply enjoy Ms. Ravenscroft and do find this book useful as inspiration. However, the subject matter of this book would have done better with more pages devoted to it. As it is, I feel most of the book is filled with the seemingly requisite intro-to-art section, the gallery of other artist's work (I do love this section), and lots of close-ups of bark, leaves, et al. While the last section is necessary, it can also be met by other books that focus on plants. I personally would have enjoyed more sweeping landscapes of fairy abodes, towns, and gatherings that showed the natural and fae worlds combined. Having said all that, I do enjoy this book and feel it is a good book for a new or younger artist simply because it has a small sampling of several things combined within it.

This book gives you just what you need to create the pictures you see in your head. Instruction in every aspect of a project: drawing, coloring, composing. Even where to look for inspiration. Easy to follow instructions with wonderful illustrations lead you step by step from that vision in your head to reality on paper.

can't wait to read more and practice from this beautiful book. The artwork is lovely and has a lot of knowledge shared in each page. I recommend these to all lovers of Faerie!

The book contains tons of colorful artworks, ideas and tips. Noted that this book does not focus on how to paint and draw, it mainly tells you how to use color, how to combine ideas together, how to express the emotion, etc. I personally doesn't like the final results, since they are not painting to me. However, that is just a personal taste so I still keep 5 stars for this book.

This is a beautiful interesting and helpful book. I can draw in my mind, but not with my hands. Reading through this book, testing the process they were explaining has helped me become a little more confident. I'm know sketching, It's not great, but I haven't gone all the way through the book. The illustrations in this book are vividly beautiful.

Brilliant only started drawing when got this book,from years of not doing anything,clear easy instructions and techniques,I feel confident in being able to draw fairies for my daughter in near future :)

The drawings are absolutely gorgeous. Really helpful instructions on how to get the fairy land look and feel you may wish to achieve. Very inspirational.

Cet artiste d'Outremanche, dont j'ai visité sa page Web , est largement connue grâce aux mérites de ses coups de pinceaux magiques, sa fébrile imagination, et une grâce incontestable. Dans ce livre c'est l'environnement des fées qui sont à l'honneur. 128 pages et une présentation agréable, comme à l'accoutumée, où l'on prépare le cadre, dans lequel vont s'installer les fées. Après avoir passé en revue les outils, les couleurs, le transfert d'images,comment peindre les fleurs et les foliages, et le temps, l'ombre et la lumière, la création du voisinage du monde des fées, on passe au dessins des baies, fleurs, arbres, pierres, châteaux, branches, plumes, et mille et un détails qui formeront un monde magique dans lequel les fées éliront domicile. Il n'y a pas de féerie sans châteaux dans l'air, avec une forêt proche, où chaque arbre peut abriter le foyer d'une fée. Un livre qui complémente bien le précédent,qui donne accès à un monde que seulement peut être vu par les yeux de l'artiste, pour parfaire la technique, aller à la recherche d'inspiration,ou tout simplement ,s'émerveiller devant tant de beauté créative.
