Is there a recommended power source?** A: It would be pretty hard to get red hot. Maybe a few wrapped it and insulation and waited an hour and then took it out it would be red temporarily. I used it to boil water plugged into a cigarette lighter in a car and it was pretty slow relative to heaters that are designed to do that. I think the resistance is a little higher than what it stated. **Q: Can I use this to heat a container of olive oil if i keep the connection point out of the container?** A: Yes, you can but you have to put the resistance in an AISI (stainless steel) tube. The closure on the bottom with a blind nut and the upper part sealed with HT silicone resin.
