Libbey Greenwich Coupe Glass, 8oz, Set of 4

Executive summary: Couldn't be happier than I am with these couple glasses. Perfect size, elegant shape, durable enough for the dishwasher. I'm happy to have found them and that I took a chance and ordered them. I'll recommend them to anyone looking for a coupe glass and if any of my set get broken, I'll stick with this model from this brand.The boring details:About 2 years ago, I purchased a set of 4 coupe glasses from a consignment store. I loved them. They were very elegant and serving my cocktails to my friends was an enhanced experience because of them. But, one of them got broken and I've been on the hunt for a replacement set every since. Which proved to be more difficult that I could have imagined. I searched all over Amazon as well as some other sites and was disappointed that no one carried the same glasses. So, I resigned myself to settling for a new, different set.However, the selection of coupe glasses was not what I wanted and some of the reviews were alarming. Many of the glasses are ugly in my opinion and the others have various issues: Some are too large. Most are too small. Some had terrible reviews regarding durability. Others were clunky-thick, the diametric opposite of elegant, which is what you want in a coupe glass.I found these and took a leap of faith. I feel rewarded.They are elegant looking with a thin (but not overly delicate) rim. If you serve a lot of cocktails, you'll understand the importance of a thin rim to a great sipping experience.They have appropriately long stems that will prevent your hand from warming the drink as you hold the glass.The stems are pulled rather than welded to the bowl, which should (and so far, has) reduce the danger of breaking the stem off the bowl during handwashing.And, most importantly to me, the bowls are exactly the right capacity. And by that I mean, when you follow a regular cocktail recipe with all the normal quantities of alcohol and mixers (typically about 3-1/2 to 5 ounces plus the water from the ice that melts as you shake it) when you strain the cocktail into the glass it fits perfectly. There is room for the entire cocktail with a comfortable space between the top of the liquid and the rim of the glass. Most of the other coupe glasses I looked at overstate their capacity in that the number they provide is true only for a pour all the way to the rim. That's not practical for a cocktail glass that will be carried or even pushed across the bar. These are perfect.

I love these glasses for 3 reasons:1) Their clean design shows off the drink without distracting from it. From any angle, they look cleanly styled and intentionally designed.2) The smoothly necked top not only frames your drink, it effectively contains it and keeps it *in* the glass as you walk about.3) Excellent quality control and manufacturing. Crystal clear, no sharp edges or parting lines, smooth where your lips touch and ammonia in your hand.It’s a bonus that these are priced lower than many offshore competitors, making them a great value.Mine have seen Naked and Famous, Ultima Palabra, Canchanchara, Bijou, and other cocktails and I’ve enjoyed every one.These aren’t oversized - I considered some larger but less appealing coupes before deciding on these - but for any drink traditionally served in this style of glass I don’t believe there’s a better option.

These glasses are very functional as martini, champagne (in a pinch) or mixed drinks. I usally shy away from coupe glasses as they seem delicate. These glasses, while looking delicate are sturdy and comfortable to hold in the hand. They hold quite a bit of drink and are a good medium weight for a coupe glass. I never thought I'd buy coupe galsses, but these are easy to hold and use without being afraid they will break.

Perfect coupe glasses!

I chose these glasses as I wanted something unique for martinis and other recipes that called for a Coupe Glass outside of the standard smooth and very thin coupe glasses that are on the market. What I really like about these is the stem is stylish and sturdier which is nice to have when enjoying a cocktail that could easily be dropped. The crystal diamond styling on the stem gives you something to hold on to. I have purchased other Libbey products and like that they tend to me more sturdy than some glassware. A thin glass sometimes has its application, however, this glass truly looks retro 1920's. The 8.5oz capacity is perfect for most cocktail recipes. The chocolate martini that I made for my wife stayed cold in this glass considerably longer than I thought it would. Loved them so much that I ordered another box of 4 knowing the inevitable will eventually happen. This was part of my covid purchase which has rounded out my home bar nicely.

I have a glassware addiction. I bought these for a cranberry drink at Christmas. But now they're my favorite Brandy Alexander glass. So elegant and perfect for a Brandy Alexander, cause you don't want a huge glass. It'll f you up. ;)

Sturdy but tiny

Cuando hago algún cocktail Tiki estas copas alegran a todos, elegante, simpática, bonita. Las amo. llorará algún día si se me rompen.

I originally gave a 3 star review because I thought the stem was too long and it can be easily toppled or tipped. However, I changed it to 4 star review because I have indeed toppled it twice in the first few weeks of use, and it fell once on a marble floor and once on a tiled floor, but it did not break, although there is a nick on the glass from the impact. The bowl is very big, so you'd think that it is very fragile, but no, it is quite robust. However, it will get scratched from falling and if you topple it enough times I'm sure it'll break at some point. Anyway, I give it 4 stars.

I first came across these glasses in a Tiki bar in Japan, I was so impressed with the design and quality that I ordered a set when I returned home. When they arrived I wasn't disappointed.
