I have loved Judith Viorst since I read "When I Am Six" ...
I have loved Judith Viorst since I read "When I Am Six" and "Alexander . . ." when they were in a magazine. She captures the angst of childhood as few are able.

Warmth and Understanding
My daughter received this book as an 8-year-old and it quickly became one of her favorites (and still is!). Now, 30 years later, I have given it to two youngsters who love it too. It gives warm, loving, and mostly humorous insight into some of the concerns that are part of growing up. By doing so she provides reassurance that such worries are okay.

a grea fun little book to get children into poetry
I use this book for teaching poetry to 2nd graders. It’s funny and a great way to explore feelings while not looking like “exploring feelings”

Needs to be in every child's library.
This book of poetry should be a staple in any child's library - when I would read it to the children in my elementary school library they would always ask for another selection from the book. Most of the poems are humorous, and from the child's point of view.

Not for us
I got this book for my nine-year-old daughter. I’ve been trying to find her some poetry books that she’d find inspiring. Unfortunately, very few of the poems in this book were relatable to her experience and the book was just dull all around. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Perfect poetry for kids!!!!
I got this for my 10-year-old. He recently discovered writing poetry, and I thought he might like some inspiration. As a parent, I thought this book was completely adorable. My son and I both loved it!

A writer in charge of the poetry
I have shared these poems in classes and assemblies and with my own family after rediscovering them recently. Quality, well scanned, 'kitchen sink' poetry is so accessible and endorsing. Judith Viorst's works are recommended.
