Most are easy. Some of the illustrations are not quite as clear as they could be. I've had trouble with a few. Our 7 year old has been pretty successful with most.

My 9 year old daughter uses this to make origami. Instructions are vague between some steps and require some trial and error. If you're looking for exact step-by-step this comes close, but will leave you guessing between some steps.

My son has absolutely loved your origami books! He started with one in the hospital, and he enjoyed it so much he asked for one at home. He has enjoyed making all kinds of animals in different settings between three of your books! Thanks for making such a huge impact on our son!

I got this book for myself to refresh my origami skills after years of disuse. I have liked most of the author's origami books, as he usually breaks down the steps well. This book...doesn't do that. There are a lot of multi-step processes where the individual steps are not broken down. I would not recommend this book for beginners; while they may technically be easier than some more complex books, they are actually best made with intermediate skills. I don't care for all of the "block body" animals in the book, so only folded about half of them. The rhino and pig were harder than they looked and didn't look very much like their intended animal when finished, but the birds and small animals turned out well. The cat and squirrel are my favorites.

Bought this for a 7 year old who recently got into origami. Great price and a good selection. The instructions are pretty easy, she was able to complete most (although not all) of the animals without asking for any help.

Love it because what I used to do took too much time. With this Origami book, I can “perform” socially and give a kid a small paper animal ! I found it easy because I am familiar with John Montro’s instructions from his other books.

Once the child is hooked on paper folding this is a brilliant book for keeping them going. Teaches not only how to fold the animals but how to follow specialised instructions. It's well worth spending a little time to clarify the codes on the arrows and lines at the beginning, and demonstrate each – this helps the origami student take a more independent approach. Moves from easier to harder animals. The forms really are elegant and well proportioned to give a strong sense of the physical shape of each animal.

Simple and Stunning, John Montroll’s Origami is something else!

This is a Xmas gift to my grandchildren. I flipped through the book I I believe they will enjoy it.
