Pedigree Plus Premium Wet Dog Food

My dog has heart failure and is very limited in the foods that he can eat. Our vet gave us a list from Tufts Veterinary Hospital that lists both dry and wet foods that dogs with heart conditions can have. One of the concerns is sodium content and if you look at the back of a can of dog food you will notice that while there are lots of nutritional information listed, sodium content is not one of them. I was limited to this food, Hills Science Diet Chicken or beef and then a prescription food. Of course, I started at the top of the food chain (no pun) because I figured that the more expensive ones would be better. Once I ran a comparison I realized that this Pedigree food actually had less sodium than the Hills Science cans and my dog actually liked this one better! With him having some health concerns I can't always guarantee that he will eat and I use this food to make meatballs for his pills twice a day, so I need him to want to eat his wet food. I have been using this food for almost three years now and I have NEVER had a time when my dog wouldn't eat it. While I tend to be one of those pet parents who goes very high end, I am very pleased with this brand, the quality and the consistency of the quality inside the cans. I have never opened a bad can and I use at least 1-2 cans per week.Also, this food isn't easily found in large box chain stores or smaller pet stores so buying it through Amazon has been such a relief for me as I used to go from store to store in a panic that I wouldn't be able to find it.

We've been feeding this to our dog for several months now and I must say that he is getting around considerably easier! We started in the fall and this winter was a bit easier for him, even in the hard cold. This spring, he is moving more easily, even when I am not diligent on regular exercise.Riley is a Border Collie mix, male, 7 years old. Very active, healthy weight.UPDATE:10 months later and through the winter....Riley has been on this food for well over a year now and hubby and I are quite shocked at the improvement. We really only expected a minor improvement and perhaps to slow the progression but Riley doesn't do that very slow, labored rise from laying down. Last winter, it would break my heart to see him trying to get up from his bed but now, he's like a puppy again, ready to go whenever we are! We will be feeding this formula for as long as he'll eat it! Thanks Pedigree!Of course, no guarantees with your cherished member of the family, but considering the very expensive stuff that is out there - this is TOTALLY worth a try for 6-8 months!

I've bought several cases over a few months as I couldn't find the Healthy Joints in the stores. My lab loved it and he's a picky eater, weird for a lab right!! The first few cases were okay, the last one, I had two cans that had pieces of what looked plastic wrappers in the food. Not giving that to my fur baby! I thought one was a mistake but the second can...NO MORE. Won't order again! Makes me question the quality control as it was a blue strip of plastic about three inches long. I worried what I can,t see that's in there!

An excellent price for this good quality dog food and I don't even have to leave my house or rememer to put in a list to get it. Just open my front door and pick up my package from Amazon. How much easier could it get? Well, my husband could open the door! Truly, this is the way to go to stock up on dog food. We have three Shih Tzus and we go through dog food, wet and dry, pretty fast. I barely remember having to buy a few cans every week. What a chore. The Amazon way is better all around.

My dogs enjoy this food very much. I usually mix it with their dry Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy food and they eat it up. One of my pups is very large and will likely be prone to joint trouble so I'm trying to be proactive with his nutrition. This particular wet food seems meaty, smells good, and actually looks pretty good. It actually looks like it's made from meat. And lastly, for the nutritional content it has it's pretty affordable for me.

More importantly, my dogs both disliked it, too. I feed them Blue Buffalo but put a tablespoon of canned in just to make it interesting. This comes set up like glue and one day covered in the refrigerator it was almost impossible to spoon out of the can. We donated the entire case to the local shelter.

The three stars are for my dogs. I have to be careful with food I give them. They did not seem to like it as well as other Pedigree, and the fat content was too high for them. I tried it since it was for 'healthy digestion', but need to stick with weight management foods with lower fat content.

I have ordered this twice before and the package contained 24 cans. I just received it again and although my order said 24 cans, I only received 12 cans. When I click on the item, it goes to a page that only says 12 cans. I feel like I've really been ripped off. What's the deal?
