Works perfectly, quick install and great performance!
I purchased the A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor (UA-789AC) primarily for its reputation for accuracy. Iโve been using it for three days now, and I am very pleased with the device. The setup and operation are incredibly simple, which makes daily tracking much easier. I especially appreciate the extra-large cuff; it provides a comfortable and secure fit that is often hard to find with standard monitors. So far, itโs a reliable and user-friendly tool for home health monitoring.

Accurate, Quick, and Simple
The LifeSource UA-789 Blood Pressure Monitor was purchased to replace an aging household monitor. However, I did use both just to compare the readings. Both had very similar readings and since my previous monitor was always well trusted I would consider the UA-789 to be accurate. A couple of household members also compared the readings before or after doctor checkups. Again, the UA-789 performed very well and had comparable readings to the doctor offices. This particular model is one of the few that come with an extra large cuff. The extra large cuff comes in handy, but since this particular monitor was going to be used by several people I also purchased the LifeSource UA-281 Blood Pressure Monitor Cuff, Large (14.2" - 17.7") . Interchanging the large and extra large cuff is quick and simple. No hassles at all. The unit is fairly quiet, although not the quietest on the market. It tends to be very quick, but there are times where it takes a little extra time to get a reading (this could be user error in the fitting of the cuff to the arm). The numbers on the screen are large and it also shows a graph (with a red, yellow, and green area) that indicates where the blood pressure is high or low. You have the option of using the included power cord or batteries with this unit. I tend to just use the power cord and it works like a charm. Overall, this was a great purchase and recommended to anyone. UPDATE 1/2/2010: Over a year later and the LifeSource UA-789 is still performing above and beyond. Readings have been very accurate compared to visits to the doctor office (a little time difference of course from the office to heading home and using the UA-789, but the readings are very close). The monitor still performs like it is new with fairly quiet operation. This was a very wise purchase and will remain in the household for much longer. Still a recommended purchase!

Comes with an Extra LARGE BP Cuff and Easy to Use!
This is a review of the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor with AccuFit Extra Large Cuff . The LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor is one of the few BP monitors on the market that comes with an Extra LARGE cuff. The accufit cuff is easy to place on the arm and easy to adjust for an accurate reading. There is a 2 inch yellow mark on the cuff that must be placed over the arrtery in order to get an accurate reading. Then with one touch of a button the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor starts to inflate the cuff to give you an accurate reading regarding your blood pressure. The monitor will store 60 total readings, 30 for the morning and 30 for the evening. When you turn on the machine it gives you your last reading for both your BP and Pulse. One of the problems in getting an accurate BP reading is making sure one uses the correct size BP cuff. If the BP cuff is too small -- your reading will be higher than your actual BP. Another issue is proper positioning while having your BP monitored. It is important that one sit in a chair with both feet flat on the floor and the arm the machine is monitoring must be at the same level as your heart. Rest your arm next to the machine on a hard flat surface. Do not move, clench your hand into a fist or talk while the monitor is taking a BP reading. Take your BP in a relatively quiet area where the machine will not pick up background noise resulting in an inaccurate reading. By following a few simple guidelines the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor with Accufit Extra Large Cuff will accurately and dependably monitor your blood pressure for years. A nice bonus is the AC adapter and a carrying case that comes standard with this monitor. This makes it easy to take your monitor on vacation or to the doctor's office on your next appointment. Be aware that most wrist BP cuffs tend not to be very accurate and are hard to place correctly for an accurate reading. When you purchase a blood pressure monitor be sure to take it with you to your doctor's office and compare readings. This will let you see how accurate your machine is compared to the doctor's manual BP monitor and also let the nurse/doctor see that you are properly fitted and using the machine correctly. If more than one person needs to be monitored in your home additional sized BP cuffs can be purchased for this machine and I have included the links for those items below. LifeSource UA-281 Blood Pressure Monitor Cuff, Large (14.2" - 17.7") LifeSource UA-280 Blood Pressure Monitor Cuff, Medium (9.4" - 14.2") Hypertension or high blood pressure is a life threatening condition that if left untreated can cause one to have a stroke. It is important to know the signs of a stroke. If you experience any of the following symptoms contact your doctor or call 911 immediately. Very Good Product.
Very good quality & easy to understand. Good to know is, that if you keep it in the little handbag it came in, it is very easy to trigger the start button & that's not a good thing when the bag is closed. (That is when you have it on back up battery).

Inaccurate and inconsistent
For $130 I expect this to work and be accurate. I have large arms and my blood pressure has been showing low on a wrist monitor. I bought this because arm cuffs are supposed to be more accurate than wrist cuffs. I also bought a smaller A&D brand cuff for my husband to use because he does not have large arms. First of all, my XL cuff does not fully deflate when I take my blood pressure. Every single time, I need to unplug the cuff and push the air out. Second of all, when you use a cuff that is too small for you, your blood pressure is supposed to be higher, but mine is significantly lower when I use the smaller cuff that I bought for him to use. The monitor always shows his blood pressure as being significantly higher than it has ever been at doctor's offices and it is not consistent. It is not consistent for me either. I have a bad case of white coat syndrome and my blood pressure always skyrockets at the doctor and this shows even higher at home for me than at the doctor's office. We are going to go to the local drug store today to buy a different well known brand for a second opinion, but I am extremely disappointed in this monitor.

Accurate and Reliable, Cuff Runs Very Large
This is a solid, accurate blood pressure monitor and feels well made. Readings are consistent and easy to take, which is what really matters. One thing to be aware of is the extraโlarge cuff is really big. Thatโs great if you need it, but if youโre on the smaller side it may feel oversized and not be as accurate. Overall, a dependable home BP monitor from a brand thatโs known for accuracy.

Bp monitored!
Excellent Bp monitor, just one button to press. Cuff very comfortable and tapered. Very accurate readings. Use with batteries or plugged in, if buying for uk you will need the right plug adapter!

Actually fits my arm
Couldn't find a blood pressure machine anywhere in Australia that would fit my upper arm properly. Glad I imported this one, because it showed my BP is actually not that bad and that a lot of the readings I had at the doctors were wrong due to the arm bands being way too small. Sigh. Proper sized arm bands should be standard at clinics but we are a long way from that.
