Taste of Home Baking (+Bonus Book: 125 Bake-Sale Favorites) Ring-bound – September 13, 2012

This baking book was priced very reasonably so I knew I was taking a chance. The inside pages are in great shape but the cover (large 3 ringbound notebook style) was ripped from top front spline. I repaired it with postal tape so it would not rip further down the spline.

The book is so inviting that the first thing I did after receiving my copy was order another one to donate to the fundraising auction at my granddaughter's school, where it proved to be one of the most popular items. It's beautifully photographed and inviting to leaf through; I shared my copy with my daughter-in-law, and her reaction was "I can hardly wait to sit down and look through it."The instructions are clearly organized and easy to follow, and the book includes tips and tricks; for example, what exactly is it supposed to look like once you've whipped something to "soft peaks"? The recipes' level of difficulty and the assortment is appropriate to all skill levels. Most of the recipes include the usual homey anecdotes and user suggestions that so many fans of Taste of Home enjoy.It's an impressively thought-out cookbook. The first thing I liked was that it's ring-bound, enabling me to add my own recipes easily or rearrange the sections to suit myself. Inside the front cover are equivalencies, such as how many cups of apple slices you can expect to get from a pound of apples. The inside back cover details substitutions for commonly required ingredients. The snap-in clear plastic page protectors are a stroke of genius!Pack this with a nice set of baking pans to make an outstanding gift for any cook. Newbies will benefit from the simple, clear instructions, and old hands will love rediscovering classics and updated approaches to old favorites.

This lovely ring bound baking specific cook book is simply beautiful. It is huge, and full of wonderful recipes, valuable charts and pages of hints and techniques for even new bakers as well. The pages are chock full of tempting color photos that will have you sitting there just reading and contemplating what to bake next. The book is set up wonderfully with chapters and tabbed pages so you don't even have to flip through the mounds of pages to find the section you want, just grab the tab on the side and you are there! At the beginning of each tabbed section, is also a more comprehensive breakdown of what is in that unit and helpful hints. There are two clear plastic pages in the book to help keep your pages clean while baking with the book open, it's ring bound so you can move them, and any page, where ever you would like it. There is also a unit for breads and savory baking so don't just think that this is only about cakes! There are quick breads and yeast breads....etc. I bake very often and consider myself to be experienced at it, and this is still a treasured addition to my library of recipes and resources. I fell in love with this book the moment I opened it, and within 15 minutes more, I ordered a second for a gift for a friend. This is an Indispensable and enjoyable book with something for all levels of bakers.

Cookbook 5 stars. Very nice hardcover cookbook, in a ring binder so pages can be taken out. Very good general information for the beginner and most recipes look like I could do. Lots of color pictures. 2 stars because binding is already pealing. I will keep it since it is for me, but if it had been a gift I would be returning

I love baking, but every recipe book I had seemed to have at least 3 or 4 awful recipes for every good one, sending me searching on the internet for recipes. I purchased this book on a recommendation from my mother in law. I have now made no less than twenty things from this book and every single one of them has been absolutely amazing. I'm ready to give away my other baking books; this is the only one I need. It has a huge selection, everything from cookies, cakes, and frostings, to yeast breads, quick breads, and even a section for healthy sweets (oxymoron that it is) and I now know even if I'm making something I've never made before, if i find it in this book, it'll be impeccable.

This book contains great recipes for all styles and levels of baking someone might be at or have. I'm picky about my cookbooks, since I don't like chocolate and I don't like super complex recipes. This book had tons of great recipes, from beginner to more complex, and it had all sorts of different tastes. Although I bought it for baking sweets, I've used tons of recipes from the baking bread section as well. As of now I haven't tried a recipe that didn't work (with the exception of when I was messing around and did some substitutions). I would highly recommend this book, even if it is a little outdated by this point.

I had higher hopes for this cookbook and was quite disappointed. Some recipes call for canned pie filling or jam. Not all recipes and I suppose someday I may appreciate the short cut. However, when I bake I want to make it all from scratch or at least the option to do so. But overall not a bad cookbook, good pictures of steps. Overall though pictures are small and uninspiring.

I love to bake and this book is awesome! I've only made a few things (several times) and they turned out great. Also has nice illustrations, a great index, wonderful baking tips, and other useful information!

This Taste of Home book was such a great purchase! It has amazing recipes with quite a few pictures. I love that it is a hardcover book that comes with sheet protecting dividers to keep the pages clean while you bake. Plus it comes with the mini Bake Sale book that has some neat recipes as well!

Countless recipes to choose from. Book is very organized. Lots of pictures. Easy instructions. Although I haven't had a chance to test any of the recipes yet, I'm sure they will turn out great because Taste of Home is amazing. I would recommend this book
