The figures weren't smooth around the edges and had some minor bumps. Also the inside, or the parents bodies, was a different "color"? I think maybe they had a mother with young children in mind, and in the case of a pulled chain this one is highly unlikely to break. The pendant is very light, lighter than I was expecting it to be, but it's hollow between the parents and the children. It's a nice size though and I love it.
