This is a nice tam. I needed a tam to complete my faculty regalia and this arrived quickly. It is adjustable to fit a variety of head sizes, which is nice. The material is soft and "floppy" which feels nice to wear. I wish the short end of the tassel was stitched down, as it tends to stick up in the air if not managed, so I might have to find a solution for that, but otherwise this should serve me well.

I ordered the doctoral tam in both black and blue colors. They both look fabulous! I have dreaded going to the commencement for years, and never liked wearing the (unattractive) gown and tam. But these tams are of fashion style and very high quality. The fabric is substantial and soft. Feels luxurious. So I'm now looking forward to attending the commencement in a week. I often shop for good deals but these are worth every penny with the original price ($29.99). Thank you Amazon for carrying such quality items.

This Tam is black velvet, with an adjustable closure. The closure is some kind of silk/nylon material I guess. The velet is nice and shipping was fast. The cons on this: the tassel is fixed to the Tam and it is on the left side (side after you graduate). The Tam appears to be fitted so that it is worn with the tassel on the side so reversing the Tam doesn't look too good. Also, the shape is not as good as the photo shows. My shape is more rounded without the distinctive edges. The fit is nice and it is comfortable, I wish I could do something with the Tam without having to sew.

I just graduated from an Ivy League law school. They paid for our gowns but we had to buy our caps and I didn't want to pay the full amount at the book store. I was worried that this cap would stand out, but it definitely didn't. The students didn't even seem to care what they looked like - some had the tassels on the wrong side, some didn't know how to fix their hoods and plenty had purchased caps online like I did. I really didn't need to be worried because the cap blended in perfectly and looked better than a lot of them.

This was a last minute order, with only 9 days until commencement. I didn't want to spend a lot of money either (I also ordered a robe from the same vendor). This is the 8-sided Tam. The velvet is good quality. There is an inner liner made from a silky material. The tassel is good quality and secured at the top and side. This Tam fits many different size heads by using an adjustable Velcro strap in the back, but is well hidden with the silky material banding. My only complaint is that the Tam didn't hold its shape very well. The points were not pronounced, and the sides flopped down. Overall I would recommend you buy this Tam if you are on a tight budget and only needed it once.

My school provides traditional caps for clinical doctorates, but I have always dreamed of a "floofy hat" as I used to call it at graduation. So I ordered this one as my graduation gift to self. I love it! Very comfortable with an adjustable section to make it fit a variety of head sizes. The tassel is located on the left, which is the correct side for graduate students and doctorate students. Would purchase again and recommend to friends!
