Holds great but could be better made
First, the good: This thing is HEAVY. I ordered the small one and it's quite hefty. The locking mechanism is solid and overall it appears to be well built. I've used it once on my 19ft pontoon boat and it held fast on the first attempt on a muddy bottom with 3ft wakes. That said, it was a bit difficult to get it free once we decided to pull anchor.Following the instructions, I pulled the boat directly over the anchor and had to use force to pull it up. It finally broke free and of course I had to "dunk it" a few times to get rid of the mud that rode up. I wouldn't consider this a con because if you've ever had to continually reset anchor, that's a bigger pain. Finally, the included storage bag is heavy duty and easily holds the anchor and the 100' of 3/8" anchor line.Okay, so the finish on this thing leaves much to be desired. It looks like a cheap spray paint job that is easily marred/flaked. See the attached photos for clarity. I can't comment on the overall build quality yet because I've only used it once. As with many Chinese-made products, the welds may prove to be the weakness for this anchor. As a final point, I would recommend a high-quality 1/2" line for this thing. It may seem like overkill, however after the first use my 3/8" line is deteriorating. With the force required to pull this thing up, I'd prefer to play it safe and ensure it doesn't get left on the bottom.

Stop looking for anchors just breakdown and spend the money, it's worth every penny.
OK, Stop looking for anchors, this is the one your going to end up buying. Other expensive junk weight anchors will only waste your money and valuable lake time. Yes, this is the most expensive anchor on Amazon but please learn from our mistakes. Anchor lesson 101 you 100% get what you pay for. You just spent $30K, $50K, $70K+ on your new boat, spent a little more so you can enjoy it. The only to describe this anchor is to tell you about our 25' monster pontoon kite balloon. It's a huge wind eating monster that lives to drag expensive anchors around the party cove and give me ulcers. Going to cove was STRESSFUL, we weren't able to set and we ended up having to reset our old anchor over and over again. Before we bought our last anchor anchor we did our homework. We learned about scope, heavy chain leaders, the proper design for lakes in area and getting the right weight for our boat. We decided to save $50 and we bought the Greenfield-Rickter 18#. Sure its looks like a great anchor but its very similar design to all the other anchors that don't work very well. After several weekends trying to make it work, it just couldn't contain the party beast in more than a 5 MPH wind. The last straw was when we spent another frustrating afternoon drifting into other boats, my wife and I screaming at each other and my poor kids were crying, it wasn't a good day. We got home that night and decided to spend the money on the Box Anchor. About the Box Anchor, the first thing you'll notice is it looks less like an anchor and more like a medieval torture device. The design is a big departure from all other conventional anchors. Guess what the dam thing is amazing because it lacks the design flaws of other expensive weights. First time out with the Box Anchor went like this, we opened the anchor compartment, dropped the anchor, attached it to our bow and partied like rock stars. Yep, it's just that simple folks. This amazing anchor is about as close to perfect as you can get. Stop looking, put it in your cart and start enjoying your boat. BTW our old Grenfield-Richter will be on Craigslist soon if you waste your time and money too. Cheers!

Make the purchase
It's not often that things we purchase actually work as advertised. This anchor bucks that trend. This is every bit as good or better than they say. I have a 2008 Malibu 23LSV (a beast of a boat) and have tried all kinds of anchors. Purchased this and I'm tickled pink; couldn't be happier with this product. I got the medium and was a little worried at first that it might not be big enough for my boat. And, I'm used to setting an anchor and moving 30 yards before it actually sets. This set immediately and we didn't move...the entire time. It stood strong - even during a wind storm. I also really like the fact that it folds up and goes in a bag (included). I highly recommend this anchor if your lake bottom is sand or mud. I have no idea about rocky lake bottoms but I believe it would work there too.

Does not dissapoint
This anchor works as advertised. It held my boat a 21ft scarab as well as a 31ft Scarab and a 26 ft Sea Ray rafted together all day in constant boat traffic chop ranging from 1 to 2 ft rollers. The bottom as a 50/50 sand mud mix approx 6ft deep. The anchor set instantly and we didn't not budge a foot from that moment on. At the end of the day about 7hrs later I was concerned all that weigh would have the anchor dug deep and would be difficult to retrieve however it instantly released from the bottom and a few cleansing dunks later i was on my way. This anchor also stows easier then my old danforth. It's a much smaller profile. It was a great purchase I'm very happy!

Holds my 2012 Malibu 247 LSV
We spend a decent amount of time anchored while letting our kiddos swim at the lake. This anchor has been amazing. My previous boat I used a Danforth anchor and it worked fine as long as I gave it enough line. With the box anchor, I pull it out of the carrying bag, unfold it and throw it over the side. After that, I don't think about it again until it's time to head out because this thing just does not move. I wish I would have purchased this for my previous boat.

Best Anchor Yet
I have tried many different anchors over the years in many different boats, and I must say, this is the best anchor I have ever used. Anyone living in Oklahoma knows how the winds can get, and how suddenly they can change. And Anyone in OK with a 22 ft pontoon knows how hard it can be to anchor in the wind. Well, this little box anchor was all it took to hold our toon fast in winds gusting to 24 MPH, and it did it all without anchor chain and almost half the rope.. Just drop this anchor overboard and when it falls on its side, it digs in and holds like nothing I've tried yet. Held on sand, weed, and rocky bottoms equally well and it was no problem retrieving it, just pull over top of it and lift straight up, releases very easily. I would recommend this anchor to any boater with the need for a reliably holding anchor.
