desertcart.com: I Am Death (A Robert Hunter Thriller Book 7) eBook : Carter, Chris: Books Review: Totally riveting! - I came across a book club page where someone asked for recommendations and at least a dozen people recommended Chris Carter. I decided to check him out and, oh wow, this man must have a twisted mind or is just a prolific author. Some of the best books I have read and I am an avid reader. I highly recommend his books. They are totally unputdownable! Review: Loved!! - From the beginning couple of pages, I was hooked! Very good read! I read it in one sitting. I really like Chris Carter and wish more of his books were available on Kindle. I'm not really good at writing reviews w/o spoiling it, but I wanted to at least give it a review and say WOW. The only complaint -wish it was longer!

Holy Crap Batman!
From the sharp and fertile mind of a former criminal psychologist (the author) comes a villain who is the ultimate human predator, a serial killer who leaves basically no forensic evidence behind and seems to leave the shadows without being seen, commits his horrendous crimes, and then disappear again like a wisp of smoke. But he never truly goes away, moving on to his next well planned event with alacrity and limitless energy. How is he able to pull this off? Who is he and where did he come from? And will he just keep going until he dies a natural death himself? Chris Carter knows how to combine vivid starkness with unlimited terror and gruesome results. It's fair to say that his stories are not for everyone. But for those of us who have studied twisted minds and the reasons for their horrifying actions, Mr. Carter once again plants a bountiful crop of hideous events that explode into a ghastly game of "catch me if you can" using extremely subtle clues that are mostly ignored at the outset. And who better to immerse himself in such a case than his lead detective at LAPD's Robbery Homicide (Ultra Violent) Division, Detective Robert Hunter. If you have a strong stomach and are not prone to nightmares, this daunting tale will shock even the most dedicated thriller reader. And to think that I just finished reading it prior to Halloween. Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers can't hold a candle to "I Am Death". They would run from this guy like screaming little girls.

Not his best, maybe, but well worth your time
I'm a big fan of Chris Carter. Nobody writes grotesque serial killer novels quite like Brits (and I will refrain from speculating why that is the case). This isn't his best, honestly, but it's good enough. Recommended

Captivating
The Robert Hunter series is very intense. From the first book, I was hooked. Haven’t found a series I have been so intrigued with in quite a long time. I love the detectives, Robert and Garcia. They are real people, not super heroes or stereotypes. Creepy killers, good story lines, page turners. Highly recommend, but not for the Squeamish!

Shocking, Terrifying, Graphic, Horrific - Need I Say More?
Once again, Chris Carter outdid himself. Great follow up to his previous novel. In my opinion, he is the master of the serial killer genre. When I think he can't possibly come up with scenarios more shocking, more terrifying, more graphic, I open a new book and I'm absolutely horrified. I can't even imagine the process that goes on in Mr. Carter's mind to imagine these types of behavior. Whatever it is, however, I hope he keeps doing it. I love the main characters, Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia. My only "complaint" is that some of his books, including I Am Death, are not available in Kindle format.

The best novel of the series !!!
First of all,i would like to inform you that I have read the most books of the series. This book is one of the best. The thing that impress me one more time is that the plot of things in the story aren't clear until almost the end.For one more time hunter and his partner take the order to catch a ,what it seems to be ,a serial killer who kills women .But this is only the beginning. What is the motive of these gruesome killings?Who is really the person who make this killings? Until about 30 pages before end nothing is what it looks like to be the truth.Highly recommended to every fan of Chris Carter and I anticipate for the next one.

Yet again Chris Carter didn’t disappoint! Granted out of all the books I’ve read in the Robert Hunter series I must say this one will stick with me just because at times it made me uncomfortable but intrigued to keep reading. Can’t wait to start the next one!

This is the 7th book in the Robert Hunter series written by Chris Carter. I was introduced to his books last summer at a crime writer's festival and have gradually been working my way through them since. This was first published in 2015. The book has 419 pages split into 92 chapters. There is a lovely note from the author at the start explaining that he has had to create a couple of fictional locations to best serve the plot. I love that he feels he needs to do this in a novel. I know that much of his work is based around factual cases but surely no one is going to be cross that he is using his imagination to help along the plot. It almost goes without saying that this book should be read as part of the series (and in the right order) but Chris Carter make efforts to give back stories for any new readers. It has been a couple of months since the last one I read so the reminders of context were useful for me. I had to smile that there had been no let up for Robert Hunter - he has come straight from his last case into this book. Chris Carter fills the book with detail that makes the novel very visual. The descriptions range from the mundane through to each horrifying element of the crime scenes The writing style often alternates chapters. For example, if chapter 3 ends with a shock, you'll then find out more about it in chapter 5. But, of course, chapter 4 may have ended with a surprise that leads you to chapter 6. It is a simple technique to keep readers hooked and is very effective. As with all the previous books this novel contains shocking murders and the author works hard with the pace to keep up the tension. Much information is gathered from autopsies and forensic examinations. CC uses the timing of the results perfectly to add suspense and frustrations - both of which feed into a thrilling read. I've read a lot of these novels now and think they are some of the most violent crime scenes I've ever encountered. That makes them exciting and I love the series. It's an interesting observation though - whether or not I am becoming desensitised to the violence? I don't think I am but I'm aware that CC is ramping it up all of the time. A formula flows through the novel as with all of the others. As soon as a new character is introduced your heart will sink as they are probably going to die - suffering extreme pain before they do. I will always put reality aside when I read this series but I was still slightly irritated by Robert Hunter having no CCTV at his apartment. In most books he has personally been at risk and it seems implausible that he would not have some sort of basic protection. I've got a lot of love for the books though so I'll let that pass. Tension builds all the way through then speeds up quickly as the end gets close. I love to read the sections when Hunter is working out what is going on and you can almost see the clues falling into place - he stays one step ahead of the reader though. When I found out the killer I was amazed and loved the ending. I'm not convinced Hunter needed to put himself into that situation but I'm glad he did as it was really exciting.

(An Evil Mind - Juli 2014/Die Stille Bestie - September 2015!) Also ruhig ran wagen! Es lohnt sich!
