This detangling cream is great. It’s so much easier to have my hair detangled using this cream than just using conditioner alone. My curls really pop when this is used. It smells so delicious, and leaves my hair soft and ready for a little curl enhancing smoothie by the same brand. It’s a heavier cream, but that’s perfect for type 4B hair. A little goes a long way, so it’s definitely worth buying. It’s not drying, so my hair remains healthy. Five stars.

When I bought this, I really needed something to detangle and get my hair back to a manageable level. It did that so well that I really don’t have to use this very often if I use my SheaMoisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil hair mask regularly (once every week or two.) But if my hair gets knotted or feels particularly dry, I reach for this every time. It’s also super helpful for smoothing and refreshing your curls. Even when I don’t need to detangle, I will often get a small amount and smooth it over my curls before I start using any curl cremes. It prevents flyaways for me and it helps form my curls better. The only downside to this is the atrocious packaging. It is almost impossible to squeeze anything out of the tube. I had to either use both hands and squeeze product directly onto a clean surface or get my boyfriend to squeeze some into my hands. You can’t do the ketchup method to shake this out of the bottle. It’s super frustrating. Instead out of sheer desperation I took a pair of scissors and cut open my two bottles and scooped everything into a clean glass jar. I wish SheaMoisture would put this in a jar because it’s so much easier to use and you won’t squeeze out more than you need or get frustrated trying to get the small bit you need to smooth something down. I definitely recommend this but ditch the packaging. Using a jar makes the experience a 1,000 times better.

It honestly is one of the best products I've come across for my hair and I actually do have very dense/full type 4C hair... I typically use this right after my hair air dries a little after my wash... I originally found this product at Walmart during covid for $7.49 and brought it up weekly until I could not find anymore... Luckily found it here on Amazon and started buying it... This conditioner has been $6.99 steady the last 4 times I purchased but now it's listed as $15.99... I just brought it 3 weeks ago... Could not even gradually increase, just gun it... Supply and demand, I guess🙄

Surprisingly to me, this detangler is the ONLY product I need to detangle and moisturize my hair after a wash, and I have 4c hair, with a sprinkling of 4b. I was skeptical at first that anything other than grease could make my hair soft after washing, but this product is a miracle. If there is ONE product that I will not go without, it is this one!! The other thing is that I don't even detangle my hair before washing. I have a pretty good shampoo & conditioner duo that works really well, but apart from that, I just use this detangler. Although it is quite thick, I had to get accustomed to the fact that it does not have much slip (if any at all) when it is applied to my damp hair. However, even on my damp hair, it gets out the tangles, and when my hair is dry, it feels like soft, fluffy cotton. Try it, you'll see. Money's worth and MORE!!

I love how soft it leaves my hair, and it really helps me detangle when I have new growth. The smell isn’t really my cup of tea, but it’s not bad either. The consistency is great because it spreads easily, so I can apply a small amount and still cover all my hair, which makes the product last longer.

Honestly AMAZING. its the first time I've used this product ever and me and my daughter-simply put-have the happiest hair. Its like thin Caucasian hair but lots of it and very wavy with curls here and there and omg it is always a freaking mess with knots and stuff if we go 1 day without detanglng it. Anyway we had the flu recently and were dying and didnt comb out hair out at all..Just showered. And omg today I expected to be in the bathroom for hours combing her hair out and it was much much easier to comb out than usual! Tons of knots and very minimal complaining about how i was hurting her head..so this is a great buy! Ya gotta try it! Awesome

This product was not what I was expecting - the picture shows a white-ish, opaque substance so I thought it would be milky - similar to the consistency of regular conditioner. Instead, I got a rather thick, clear gel-looking substance. I got this product as more of a leave-in than strictly a detangler because I liked the ingredients and it had good reviews - and for that, it works great. I am Hispanic with mixed ancestry, like most of us, and despite my rather European appearance I was lucky enough to get my thick curly hair - large curls/ringlets somewhere between coarse and soft - and I wanted something that would hold my curls and just weigh the frizz down enough to not look like I go around brushing it while it's dry. I actually like that this product is very gel-like for that reason - it is not too oily and works to hold it throughout the day without acting like a crunchy gel or mousse, and because of the ingredients (and my experience with shea moisture as a brand) I know its good for my hair. My hair can take some product and oils, but I have to be careful not to get carried away because it can look a little greasy at the roots. All in all this product really works for me, and I would imagine strictly as a detangler it'd be great too because of the nice amount of slip to it. I do usually put other things in my hair besides this, whether it is my shea moisture shea butter conditioner or some other leave-in, but I can tell the difference this is making for sure.

I have a combination of 3C and 4A hair. I usually like Shea Moisture products. I bought this one because I was looking for a good detangler and moisturizer for my hair. I love the scent/fragrence of this detangler. It moisturizes okay. However, it does not really detangle my hair all that well. I used to use Kinky Curly's Knot Today leave in conditioner detangler, however with their recent forumla changes it doesn't detangle my hair anymore either so that is why I decided to give this Shea Moisture Detangler a try. It has similar key detangling ingredients that the Kinky Curly Knot Today detangler has, but the main ingredient that I can observe in the ingredients of both this Shea Moisture Detangler and Kinky Curly's Knot Today Detangler is the Panthenol and Cetyl Alcohol. Both of those ingredients from what I have observed in using detangling products takes away from the "slip" and "slippery" element/feel that is necessary for hair to be easily detangled. It's part of the new ingredients that were added to Kinky Curly's Knot Today updated/new forumula, and I see that Shea Moisture has made the same mistake. I'll keep using this product until it runs out as it makes a nice oil based product to add to my hair for help with moisture. But it doesn't serve the purpose as a detangler which is disappointing. I do like the fragrance though and for my hair to smell nice.

I wanted to like this product but it didn't work for me at all. My hair became tangled up after using it which made it harder to brush. I guess it's not for my hair type. I had to rinse it out. It smells great though.

This is the best at detangling afro hair, no skin irritation, smells nice, easy to use, a little goes a long way in a spray bottle and water. It is very thick, doesn’t seem to have greasiness but creamy. The ingredients don't seem to affect the hair negatively so far
