Nix Ultra Superlice Treatment, All-in-One Shampoo, 4 Fl Oz & Lice Removal Comb

Super easy to use, better ingredients and doesn’t smell. I was comfortable applying this and it worked great! Totally worth the money! It goes on more like an oil than a soapy mess, so very convenient and kid friendly.

Found out my daughter had lice and purchased this immediately. Killed all adult lice on day 1. By around day 4 I saw loose nits far from scalp. After a 2nd treatment for peace of mind and several weeks of fine combing, we are nit free.

Easy to use and safe for kids. Got few lice after the treatment was done. I have to do it again in 9 days.

Here’s what you’re going to do when you have found lice in your kids hair: 1. Anxiety attack because it is one of the grossest things ever and you can’t believe your kid has it 2. Calm down a bit and search the internet for answers and have another anxiety attack as you read horror stories about other parents’ experiences with lice 3. Buy every product you can find that claims it can help with lice Now what should you do? 1. Calm down, it’s ok. Many people have been through this and they succeed. It will take work though, so prepare for it 2. Put Nix shampoo in your child’s hair as directed and watch all the little buggers die (mwahaha) 3. Rinse hair as directed 4. (Optional) have your child use regular shampoo / conditioner after 5. If your child has long hair, brush hair with a regular brush and boil that brush 6. If your child has long hair, get a clip or scrunchee or some kind of hair tie and put most of it up, leaving a lower section out 7. If your child has long hair, put cetaphil lotion on the loose hair to act as a detangler 8. Brush hair with the Terminator lice comb, it’s easiest to brush from the top down with comb over the hair touching the scalp. Brush this small section lots of times until you don’t see any weird little white or brown bits in that section of hair (those are the eggs) 9. Clean the comb with isopropyl alcohol or boiling water. 10. Let down a little more hair, if using a hair tie. Or just move to another section. 11. Repeat combing small sections until you’ve combed all hair. 12. Have child take a shower to clean out the lotion (if using) 12b. Wash everything that touches anyone’s hair in 130 degree F water. You might need to adjust your water heater, there should be a knob on it with different temp settings, so look at the directions on how to set it. And dry everything on high heat for 20+ minutes 13. Check child’s hair every day for more lice. If more lice are found, check Nix directions to see if it’s safe to repeat, but definitely do the combing procedure 14. On the 5th day, repeat combing procedure no matter if lice are found or not 15. On the 9-10th day, repeat Nix treatment and combing procedure. This is a good day to repeat treatment based on the life cycle of lice. Eggs will have hatched, but the new lice will not have laid eggs yet. 16. Keep repeating everything until no lice are found 17. Treat yourself, you deserve it

The lice treatment kit is designed to manage and eliminate lice infestations. However, a notable flaw of the treatment is that it may not kill all lice. Some treatments have been reported to only incapacitate the lice temporarily, rather than killing them outright. This means that while the lice may be rendered inactive or “knocked up” by the treatment, they are not necessarily eradicated, and there could be a risk of the infestation persisting or recurring. It’s important to follow up with combing and possibly a second treatment to ensure all lice and nits are removed

I have no idea why Nix keeps getting recommended as a top lice treatment. We tried the permethrin version (creme rinse) first, and it killed some of the lice but definitely not all of them. The Ultra All-in-One shampoo is just scented mineral oil; you might as well buy a cheap bottle of your local store brand mineral oil because there is no other active ingredient in this product. I'm trying other brands with dimethicone or sodium chloride for our next round. The packaging on all Nix products is misleading and it's wildly overpriced considering how badly it works.

I wish we never needed this, but it is good to have on hand. We have elementary age kids and when they’ve had lice, this has done the trick.
