Purchased October 2013 - Original review was 4 stars Update: October 2017 - Updated review is 3 stars After a couple years of using maybe once a month on average the expanding handle "lock" started getting loose. It progressively reached a point of literally not locking at all. I have resorted to using electrical tape to tape up the joint and leaving it expanded. I used it this way for a few months and then the handle broke from the wheel. I used epoxy to repair. Overall still satisfied given what I paid for it, but drop from 4 stars to 3 due to the failures. ***Original Review Below*** ~BACKGROUND~ I purchased this wheel tape measure to measure long distances over various types of terrain outdoor and indoor (warehouse). ~PROS~ - Easy to read Odometer - Expands and collapses for easy storage - Twisting the handle locks the expansion sections in place - Rubber wheel maintains solid contact with surfaces ~CONS~ - No way to lock the handle in place when it is collapsed, so it has a tendency to expand on its own - Smells terrible when first removed from the box. Very strong rubber odor. Several months later the rubber stills smells. ~CONCLUSION~ Overall I am pleased with the walking wheel tape measure. Especially for the price.

This works good and was definitely worth it for the price. It's made pretty solidly built but as you are rolling it if you push to hard or hits a bump it somtimes pushes back in because it doesn't lock when extended, and over the counter it has a flimsy piece of plastic but you get more then what you pay for. If I was going to need one all the time I would go for one of higher quality but for occasional use and to save money It was well worth it.

It's not a very sterdy tool after a few times extending it stoped tightening.. using to measure floor in my house. So not a very good tool.

I needed a device that was priced right and fulfill my needs to measure my walking distance on a daily basis. This product fit my needs had a very good price as well. I would recommend this product.

Made it easy to take pictures of readouts of distances of the stolen trees, and sizes of trees, saved me so much time and effort, thanks

Yes, it breaks as it is a cheap, light weight item. Use carefully. Measured accuracy against tape measure and is accurate. Not for on-the-job but otherwise ok. Tape the handle when it breaks and figure you got what the Chinese sold you. We never learn.
