Imuraya Japanese Style Pre-Sliced Baked Sponge Pound Cake 9.8oz, 7 Pieces (Original)

I enjoy this brand of Sponge cakes as they come closest to my memories of traditional sponge cakes growing up. They follow the same recipe I have which uses no added oils or butter, and the technique of beating the yolk and whites separately, and then folding of the whites into the batter to create a non-greasy texture that is fluffy and super moist. My only request is if someday the company would make versions with a whole lot less sugar in them. They're great with a cup of coffee, tea, turmeric latte, or really anything you prefer to drink. As for price, the prices on Amazon are pretty steep, there are options elsewhere that are much cheaper and just as convenient to buy.

I enjoyed Castillo cake when I lived in Japan and was looking forward to having this cake. Unfortunately the cake was very dry and stale even though the indicated expiration date on the package was February 2024. It was not edible so I threw it out. A major disappointment!

This brought my childhood memories. This is one of my favorite snack when I was a kid. Yes, it is sponge cake, but you don't find it here in the United States. It's so moist and sweet, but it's delicate sweetness; it's not overpowering. A glass of cold milk goes with it!!! I know it's a bit pricy, but I think it's worse it. I will order again!

I was craving a Japanese style jiggly bread. This was not it. The product is dry and crumbly. Also, it’s not individually packaged. For the cost it was not worth it.

When it first arrived it was well package and hadn’t been messed with nor damaged. When I got it it tasted really good! I loved it, the only thing I would say is it could use some homemade icing but in general this is really good and moist and you get your moneys worth with this!

I bought this on a whim, thinking it would be stale. To my surprise the cake was infact moist. It's delicious and I'll probably be purchasing more, since my kids ate most of it.

I saw this kind of cake being made on You Tube and it looked so good, and it is delicious.

Outside seems fluffy and moist but when you take a bite, it's very very dry and cakey. Not really what I hoped for.
