Can you use Bob Ross brushes with acrylic paints?

Of course. Brushes for oils work great for acrylics, depending on the textures and strokes you're looking for. Though, you can't always use acrylic paint brushes for oils, due to the mineral spirits dissolving the glue that holds them together. Exclusively Acrylic/Watercolor brushes are meant to only to be cleaned with water, sometimes alcohol. Oil painting brushes can be cleaned with anything. Use whatever brushes that provide the effects you're trying to create. Experiment with many, that's my advice.

Can mineral spirits be used to clean this brush?

Yes. I would recommend using an odorless mineral spirits such as Turpenoid. Cautiously use in a ventilated area and store used rags or paper towels in an air tight container.

I have owned several Bob Ross brushes and I am an art teacher. The best results I've had for keeping them in the same soft condition are the following: DO NOT forget to clean brushes after using them. That is how I've ruined them. DO use odorless paint thinner to rinse out oil paint and DO NOT use soap and water. Thinner alone will dry fast and leave these particular bristles clean, soft and without the smell of the thinner. Acrylic paint will ruin these particular bristles.

No, they are not hog hair. Hog hair brushes are called bristle brushes and are stiffer.

The right tools make a big difference.

If you have taken up painting and are learning or have become a novice, Bob Ross brushes for landscapes are a great tool. I am just learning and these brushes have made a big difference. Much easier to create the leafy effects in bushes and trees. Worth the money.
