Made for busy little boys!
...Not that I would discourage girls from playing with it but I find they don't. I bought this at Christmas for my nephews who really like it, but the real test is that I was given one for my infant classroom lego box a few years ago. It wasn't new when I got it, has been in almost daily use since, and shows no sign of wearing out. Even a couple of illicit visits to the sand tray haven't ruined it, although it takes the shine off the plastic a bit. Great toy!

Digger review
My 2 year old grandson enjoys playing with the digger, and it was good value for money. The grab comes off rather easily, and needs mum to put it back on regularly. It has a lot of potential for creative play.

Lego, I love you!
This is such a great toy I am now buying it as a present for all other little boys I know in this age group. My 2 1/2 year old loves diggers/ all construction toys, so we were going to be on to a winner, but I never imagined he would play with it quite so much. I also have the cement mixer and between the 2 of them he can play construction sites for hours. Great that he can put wheels on himself, although he still needs help with the scoop and arm... but then these toys are about them developing their skills so that is to be expected. Delighted.

Lego duplo fan but this one not so great. Not much lego for the money and the hinges of digger's scoop already too loose after just 3 weeks. Having said that the little fella loves it!

One of the best Duplo models for the money
This is one of the best Duplo kits around. It is a digger with real caterpillar tracks, a rotating cab and an articulated digger arm that swivels in 2 places. The cab can also separate from the tracks meaning that the tracks can be used to make other models if you have other Duplo. I used the tracks to make a tank for example. The only concern is that one of the arm pieces broke where it joins onto the digger arm. I have sent to Lego and asked for another. I will update this review if/when I get another piece. For that reason if your child is rough on toys maybe look at a different model. The LEGO DUPLO 5637 Garbage Truck or LEGO DUPLO 5592: My First Plane are both very tough. My 2 year old loved this kit when he first got it and a year later still plays with it. The articulating arm makes it properly interactive as a toy and as a model.Edit 21/04/2010 - I filled out the broken/lost lego item form online at lego.com, put my son's name in on the address and a week later a parcel arrived addressed to him with a whole new digger arm and shovel in. He was overjoyed! Excellent customer service.
