It's so strange they disable that feature because I've got the countdown timer on the 30 year old +/- black plastic version which is my idea of THE standard in watches. I'm so amazed to see it put in a stainless case and band for less than the one I'm wearing which is over 30 years old and if I hadn't loaned it to someone who thought it was my fault for not asking for it back so she shouldn't have any responsibility in borrowing it and not giving it back. I think we all know people like this which is why I think... nevermind. Awesome watch. I did buy the exact same watch because it tells you everything. You could get beamed to Pluto and back and it'll tell you upon return, what day of the week it is and the year it is if you were in cryostasis the whole time. (You'd have to go through settings to find the year but it's there so it knows how many days are in each month and which day of the week etc. I've never used this feature in all these years. So maybe it's better to have the kind that rings loud bells you'll hear over your earbuds or TV. If you miss the beeps you could have a fire on your hands so maybe they're limiting our ability to mess things up. When it reaches zero, the rocket blasts off. You don't want a tiny beep to announce such dangerous things, like boiling eggs, dinner in an oven, ...I don't know. You cannot go wrong with a Casio watch. Rolex can stay ugly and require fixing every month. This particular one I'm wearing gets perfect time. Just luck of the draw, but every one I've had has been well within listed specs. That's Japanese craftsmanship for you. Great watches. I had a Casio calculator not much bigger than a credit card all through engineering school in college and then work. It didn't need batteries for 15 years. The watches are similar unless it has a quartz watch on it too. Now I forgot what I'm shopping for.
