Beautiful Glow On Cupcakes
I got this to make cupcakes for a friends birthday. She requested rose cupcakes (rosettes) that were sparkly. She wanted something really beautiful and classy but not over the top. After doing some research and looking at reviews, I bought this. The gold dust was perfect and beautiful. Very fine grain if you compare it to something like glitter. After putting the rosette frosting on the cupcakes, I just put some of this lustre dust on my hand and gently blew it onto the cupcakes. It fell beautifully and gave the perfect amount of sheen. The birthday girl couldn't stop talking about how beautiful her cupcakes were and there was no compromise in taste or texture. No grittiness, no difference in taste, this was really great stuff. Also, the 2 grams lasted a really long time. Highly recommend!

Beautiful lustre dust, works well but best on dark colors.
This dust comes in a small container, a lot smaller than I expected. It works very well for powdering desserts gold depending on the color of the item you're dusting. I used a small brand new makeup brush that I had on hand to powder a dozen or so white chocolate roses for wedding cupcakes and they turned out beautiful, though it had more of a copper gold tint to it. The thing is, it works so much better on regular brown colored chocolate and I found that out too late. Using regular brown chocolate would of saved me a lot of time from all that powdering, would of given the roses a more realistic gold look and I also would of used less of the lustre dust. I also used it on some white fondant butterflies and flowers, gives it a beautiful copper gold touch and made everything look professionally made. This dust works best on darker colors unless you don't mind a copper gold looking presentation. I am overall happy with the results though and would purchase this item again if I ran out.

No glitter - just gold......
I bought this with a little caution, after reading the reviews. We wanted to make a geode cake. The cake calls for rock candy and edible gold surrounding the opening where the "rocks" go. This came on time and it is quite small to look at. But a little goes a long way! We don't use fondant so, we needed something that would work with butter cream. We put the "rocks" on the front of the cake and use a medium sized round paint brush to put the dust around the opening. It worked so well! It is so pretty and you don't need very much. I still have half a jar left. I even sprinkled some of the dust on the top of the cake to give it some shimmer. And we used this dust to color the three rock candy lollipops that were placed on top of the cake. I am happy with this purchase and will use again if I ever need gold dust again. I just used it dry - right from the can onto the brush - then onto the cake. It will make a mess! So be prepared to clean afterwards.

Put it in drinks! (but not too much)
(I'm trying to review every product I've bought and used, in order to pay it forward to everyone who's provided such helpful comments and ratings. Some reviews are easier than others) I'm not a baker by any means; I just love to buy this stuff and put it in my drinks so I can feel like a nifty wizard. For that purpose, this stuff is great. A little bit goes a long way, so you only need to buy a little package, and you can't taste or feel any of it . . . assuming you don't make a very bad mistake and spill a third of the container into your tea, at which point it will develop an unpleasant milky-gritty texture (though it still won't taste like anything, which is nice). The attached video is an excellent example of TOO MUCH LUSTER DUST in a drink, but if you take a flat stirrer or the handle of a spoon/fork, scoop out a little bit of dust -- less than a pea-sized amount! -- and dump it into your beverage of choice, it will be sparkly and exciting. Just make sure you stir it regularly, or it'll all settle at the bottom and a) not look as cool, and b) you'll get that weird milky residue in your last few sips, which is a bad time.

Loved it! Looked beautiful!
This gold dust is great. Initially, I was a bit worried that the dust would have a negative effect on the taste of the cupcakes, but the dust did not change the taste. You know how sometimes, red food dye, for example, adds a bitter taste to your icing, or cake, the same cannot be said for this dust. The gold tone is a bit deeper/darker than I had originally intended, but it is just difficult to gage through a computer screen. I My error in the judgement of tone is not the seller/manufacturer's fault. Regardless, it looked beautiful on the cupcakes. I only include this info. in an effort to help you gage which gold tone you require for your color scheme. The best part is that by decorating the cupcakes on our own, we saved a ton of money. When we asked the baker for an estimate between plain cupcakes and gold dusted cupcakes, the price almost doubled! Save yourself the money! Dust your own baked goods. It is so easy to do and SO worth the time and money!

Perfect for aspiring alchemists!
Used this to decorate gum paste decorations for a wedding cake, and was impressed by the bright, glittery sheen it gave the decorations. This item comes in a small plastic container, and at first I was worried I wouldn't have enough but I quickly learned that less is more when it comes to working with luster dust. To use, I dipped a paintbrush in a tiny bit of vodka, then dipped the brush into the gold. Too much vodka and the gold become dull- it took practice to get just the right combo of dust and vodka but when I did it came out wonderful. I was able to make two small rings for the top of the cake that looked terrific, as well as add details to gum paste shells. I can see many uses for this in the future. Thanks for a great product!

Amazing color, a little goes a looong way!
I purchased this container of luster dust after readying many reviews on here. I had 100 cake pops to cover so I purchased 2 containers hoping it would be enough to cover them all. Well, 1 container was plenty!! This product is beautiful! I did all 100 pops and maybe used a third of the container!! I could not be more satisfied with how it turned out! My customer was thrilled and I've received multiple compliments on the gold color. I've also been ordering from Oasis for a while and have always received excellent products and services! Thank you so much for selling quality products! #customerforlife

Great Colors (Unfortunate Packaging)
The quality of the dust itself is great. I bought it to make a snazzy-looking cocktail for a friend's party and it went over perfectly, turning a simple drink into something special. The colors are great; it's one of the few truly gold-colored lusters out there. I would buy it again, only if I can't find any competing alternatives. Unfortunately, the container isn't up to the task. It's all too easy to waste dust removing the cap, due to the type of seal. It protects the contents well, until it's time to remove the top. Besides the fact that we're paying $4/gram (by comparison, actual silver costs only $0.50 per gram), this dust (like any chemical) isn't healthy to breathe, so it's important not to spill it. It's also tricky to remove the luster dust from the bottle. It's too small to insert standard measuring spoons, so it requires some ingenuity.
