Martin Authentic Acoustic® Marquis® Silked Guitar Strings – Silk & Steel, Custom Gauge | Lower Tension, Bridge Protection & Balanced Tone

I am picking up my guitar again after many decades of not playing. I have always used Martin strings both on my acoustic and electric guitars. These strings are for my Yamaha acoustic. I initially purchased regular, bronze strings. They were hard on my tender fingers and I didn't like the sound of the ones I chose as much as I was used to experiencing with Martins. They would have been fine on an electric guitar, however. I purchased these as an alternative. They are easier on my fingers and the sound is the more subtle and mellow that I was looking for. They are thinner and may not last as long, but we will see. I left my old, worn out bronze strings on this guitar all of the years I didn't play it and, while they had lost their sound, they still tuned up without breaking. I hope Martin quality has not changed in the intervening years. My Yamaha is one of the famed older guitars they made that have become desired collectors items, so the sound made by different strings is very discernable.

These strings are a GREAT help to me! I have been learning guitar diligently for 2-3 years so I'm still a beginner. I bought an inexpensive dreadnaught with steel strings. I struggled with pushing down on the strings enough to make chords. The first thing I did was have a new "set up" on my guitar which lowered the fret to the board. That helped a lot but not enough. Just bought these silk and steel strings and I am GOLDEN! I have feel I can play the notes now and can master this guitar without finger fatigue and tightness. Would definitely recommend. My guitar sounds great too. (Again, I am a beginner so if you are an experienced guitarist with an expensive guitar-don't judge! Speaking to the beginners out there!)

I’m always surprised how much I like these when I get them. I go through cycles with strings and forget how good these are. Not the sharp tone of bronze, much more mellow. Much easier on the fingers when playing. They probably aren’t for everyone but everyone should give them a try at least once. Warm, not brittle or bright.

Lots of research went into this purchase. Other reviewers rated them high for warm tones and I agree that they sound quite nice. Not quite as warm as nylon strings but they produce much more sound. If you want a good balance of warmth and volume, these are a good fit.

Love how these feel on my Martin mini! I almost remind me of electric guitar strings they are pretty thin and seem nice and fast. Nice bright sound

Decided to try these on a Norman B20 Folk guitar and I'm very happy that I did. These are very nice strings for finger picking - they respond to a light touch very well . Very balanced - not too trebly and not to bassy. They've ben on for a couple weeks and they still sound fresh.
