The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

Am a member of the Master Arts Chorale in CA and will be performing this in April.

The large choral group that I and my wife belong to just gave a performance of Jenkins' "The Armed Man", and our performance was one that will be long remembered not only by the chorus, but by those who attended. It is going to take a while for this work to make the rounds of most choirs and choruses to make a significant impact on its performers and listeners. "The Armed Man" is the one contemporary choral work that has had a major impact on me, both emotionally and spiritually. The movements of Jenkins's work gradually grow in intensity and impact to impress performers and listeners of the horrors of war, and why all men need to work for peace instead of trying to impose their values and beliefs on people of different cultures and nationalities. Some of the texts chosen are quite graphic as well as the music accompanying them. Despite the higher cost to purchase copies of this significant work, it is worth it for all choral organizations to perform. Highly recommended, despite the extra cost! I heard this on KBAQ and loved it. I bought the cd and vocal score for all my musician friends for Christmas. Its a beautiful new mass, perfect for concert choirs.

I needed this for an online chorus. The book came in very good condition, like new for a good price!

Passionate. A plea for peace set to music. The melodies and rhythms stay with me. Chorus has a great sound.

This is a fabulous piece / peace of music to sing and the message truly resonates. I would highly recommend this to choirs.

I have used this score for a couple of performances recently. I like the layout and I find it easy to read with both the words and the notes large enough for me to see easily. It's a good layout. In one place a repeat means having to turn a page backwards, but otherwise all the repeats are contained on one page or across two facing pages which makes it easy to follow. Good quality paper as well, so my markings and rubbings out haven't damaged the pages.

Like this score. Only wish it was ring binder format as it is difficult to keep open. Love the music

Arrived promptly and 'does what it says on the tin'.

Arrived early, excellent score. Only minor problem was that the adhesive binding did not allow the pages to stay flat when opened, the score kept closing. Alright if held, but not if playing the parts on another instrument.
