What I like most about BodyBio Butyrate is how consistent and gentle it is. After taking it regularly, I noticed less bloating, more predictable digestion, and an overall calmer gut. It does not feel harsh or cause urgency like some other digestive supplements. So I just got my bottle. Was all excited about making my health better. But when I took the capsule out of the bottle, it had a smell to it. I was like, it's okay, I'll just swallow it quickly. But then when I went to rub my nose, it still had the scent on my fingers that touched the capsule. And the more I sniffed my fingers, the more it smelled like poop. So I had to wash my hands really good with scented soap. I would like to return it because I know I won't be able to take any of the capsules due to the smell. I can smell it when I open the bottle. But since I already opened it and took 2 capsules, I cannot see me returning it. But be warned if you have a sensitive nose.

I used to take the sodium butyrate of this same brand and it was ok, but I changed to this version with calcium and magnesium and I took my first capsule yesterday, and I was all say with terrible pain in my intestine and large bowel, so I don't know why, maybe is the form of the magnesium (hydroxide). I'm going to pass one day and take it tomorrow again so I can give it another chance. I'll see if I can still talking it or quit.

I’m on day 3, and I should knock on wood when I say this, but I have been trying to solve my irregularity problem for almost ten years now. I had surgery a few weeks ago, so I’ve drank a few bottles of magnesium citrate over the past few weeks to make sure things were moving, so I know I haven’t been backed up. I think my intestines are finally doing their job. The last couple days I have been having easy BMs 2-3 times a day. Fingers crossed!! Is there a cheesy smell? Yes. Can I taste it? No.

My dermatologist recommended I take this. he told me he has studied a lot about butyrate and was so convinced by how beneficial it is, that he wanted me to add it to my acne regimen. He told me to start with one a day with meals, and build up to a max of 6 a day. I had (had!!! :) a severe case of cystic acne...hormonal and genetic...after months of antibiotic treatment, I had recurring thrush (yeast) in my mouth. I am now off antibiotics, and have not had a laser treatment in 6 months. I have not had a yeast recurrence since starting this product. I also have celiac disease so my gut is very sensitive. From my research I can see why he wanted me to take it. It is good for someone who has been on a lot of antibiotics, since it is a prebiotic. He told me the short chain fatty acids would help unclog my pores and help manage the sebum issues that contribute to the acne. My skin is doing very well, however I believe the primary reason is that I have hormonal acne and part of my acne treatment involved going on hormonal birth control to manage it. I was supposed to start accutane, but I am doing so well I feel like I will just keep taking this supplement along with my topical prescriptions and the birth control. I am just thrilled to be off antibiotics, off the anti-yeast medications, and not having to go in for laser treatments every 4 weeks! I am happy with the affordable price on Amazon. It is much more expensive buying direct, I was charged $11 shipping buying it direct from bodybio site, bringing my total to about $70 for a bottle of 250 capsules. I compared the bottles and opened the capsules from each container, the one I purchased direct from bodybio and the one from amazon, and everything appears identical. I tasted the contents of each capsule. I was wondering why it is so much cheaper on amazon and wanted to make sure it was exactly the same product. From my non-clinical observations, they are exactly the same so I will be buying it on amazon from now on. The powder tasted awful,...salty actually...but I guess thats just how it tastes! bottom line, I will continue taking this product, it is beneficial for anyone with acne, anyone who has been on antibiotics, has gut issues or autoimmune disease such as celiac.

Also bei mir gut verträglich. Und ja bekannt alles mit Buttersäure hat sein Geruch. Aber beim Öffnen des Behältern merke ich es kaum. Allerdings wenn man die Kapseln mit den Fingern begrabbelt, riechen diese danach. Ich hole die Kapseln mit einem Löffel raus.

Not been using it for long but has made a difference in terms of better bowel habits already. Not the nicest smell but it is in a capsule and is gone in a second. I did a fair bit of reading round the subject before taking so am hoping to get some of the longer terms health benefits too. Difficult to assess at the moment as only couple of weeks in. This one was recommended by a doctor to me . Not cheap but one bottle lasts a fair amount of time.

This stuff is a life saver tried other brand but they are rubbish. Stops my allergies straight away

Hope that one day can write a review of how wonderful it works for a SEVERE ME/CFS sufferer but at the moment cannot get over the intense dreadful odour. It travels through the bottle and sticks to your hands and anything it touches. A strange experience. Thought they must be totally rancid but looking on here good there is info that says this is safe - well suggests it is!
