upon opening the can i was pleasantly surprised. This can is filled to the top with black cherries and syrup. When i opened my same sized can of luxardos which cost $20 more they were half full of cherries and the rest with syrup. These cherries are absolutely delicious every bit as good if not better than luxardos. Twice as many cherries than luxardo and better price. you cannot go wrong with these. On the negative, the can was just put in a box by amazon and was pretty dented. This is on amazon not the product.

Try over vanilla OR chocolate ice cream (or both)! Great for cocktails. I think this is the 5th time I've ordered this gigantic can, because our family loves them and they make an easy, delicious dessert for entertaining.

I usually use Luxardo cherries but based on the ratings decided to give these a try. They are fantastic. Luxardo cherries are also delicious and this does not detract from that. They are in the same category, but have a slightly different flavor and texture, the Luxardo being in syrup that feels a little heavier and sweeter, these being in syrup that is not quite as heavy but with the same intensity of flavor and color, with cherries that are plenty sweet but with a little tang under it, which I love. When compared by the other critics in the family, there are those who slightly favor these and those who slightly favor the Luxardo, but not by much in either case and certainly we all would happily use either. Given the price, and the fact that since I am buying and I like the fruity tang, these win out for me.

Really the item is a 5 star based on a prior purchase but don't buy if amazon is fulfilling the order. They don't package the can properly and by the time you get it you're lucky the dents in it didn't force a spillage. They cleverly make sure the item is not refundable or returnable.

Excellent cherries. Anybody ordering these has probably tried Luxardo as well. I find the flavor of the Fabbri Amarena to be a bit more intense, a bit deeper than the Luxardo, which are a bit brighter in flavor. I like them both with a slight edge to Fabbri Amarena. I've ordered the seven-pound Fabbri Amarena once, and my perception was that the syrup volume was quite high, that is to say, the volume of cherries was relatively low. The syrup is very good as a flavoring on its own, but that's not why I ordered the cherries. I give the nod to Luxardo for better value for higher cherry content, but I admit that's a subjective perception.

As many have observed, Fabri Amarana vs luxardo is largely preference. Compared side by side, I think the Fabri are crisper and a bit more tart. Luxardo are a little smaller and maybe in a little better shape than these in the big can. Some have mentioned the syrup to cherries ratio.......I was repacking these into Mason jars and might have wished for a bit MORE liquid. I split the can with a friend and we each carne out well ahead of buying online in the large jars....way better than buying in a store if they even have them.

Super tasty - excellent garnish and the syrup is a nice substitute for simple syrup.

These amarena cherries aren't cheap, but they're the best on the market and this bulk size saves a ton of money over the jars.
