My previous, but not the same mats as these, had bit the dust after very prolonged use. I bought these and really liked the fact that I have one for each kind of product that needs slicing or dicing. My mats laid flat which I noted was another reviewer's concern, but so far there is no problem with that. I use them frequently and also place them in the dishwasher with no obvious signs of wear.
