Because its sizes in inches are bigger than Demeyere 5-plus 8 qt, significantly. One of these two pots has the wrong sizes...** A: Yes it is an 8.5 qt pot. I think the dimensions for the 5-plus 8 qt on the amazon website are for the box the pot comes in. The 5-plus 8 qt is 9.5 in diameter and 6.5 in deep compared to 9.4 and 7.1 for the atlantis 7. **Q: Amazon listing says finish is "ceramic". Is this a typo/mistake? My impression is that it is stainless steel on the interior.** A: No ceramic in this pan whatsoever! Stainless steel, inside and out. Over time, I have collected many Demeyere pans, and love them all. **Q: Is this easy to keep clean? Does is easily show fingerprints and water drops?** A: I find them easy to clean. Once, I forgot about steaming some green beans until I could smell burning. The bottom of the pan was totally black, and I was afraid that it was ruined. After it cooled down, I used Barkeepers Friend (powder) and it is like new! I believe I read on Demeyere's website that they suggest drying the pans with a towel after washing, but I am lazy, live in a very hard-water area, and a few water spots don't bother me at all. Highly recommend the Atlantis line! **Q: So this is not a full 7-layer cladding on the sidewalls of the pot?** A: The 7 layers are on the bottom of this type of pot. Demeyere thinks the 7 layers on the sides is not required for this type of pot. We have the entire set and some pans have the 7 layers on the sides & bottoms & some only on the bottom. It depends on the type & usage of the pan or pot. You should check out the Demeyere videos on Youtube. I did a lot of research before buying the Demeyere set. The choice came down to Demeyere Atlantis or All Clad Copper Core. My wife chose the Demeyere set after actually some hands-on experience at a high-end kitchen store. She HATED the handles on the All Clad & she was not a fan of the rivets on the inside of the pans.
