Krytox GPL206 contains no additives and can be used on components that may come in contact with all chemicals including acids, bases, solvents and other reactive chemicals. Typical applications include valves, bearings, seal barrier fluids, instruments and oxygen systems. But I learned - as other reviewers have - that these tend to emit a mechanical odor and begin to fail as temperatures exceed 400 F. Both racks were shot. Or so I thought. As a last resort I tried this expensive Krytox grease. Problem solved. I applied about 0.1 oz to the rails and bearings housing of each rack, slid them back and forth a few times to work the grease in and put them to the test. Both racks operate as good as new, and have been in daily use for 2 months now. No odor. No failure. Everything still performs as expected. I've not had to apply any more grease, and still have half of the tube remaining. I can't speak for every situation, but Krytox solved an otherwise expensive problem in our kitchen. But it's typically very expensive, @ least 4 amateur chemists, & the smallest tube was ~$50usd. This smaller version finally makes the best grease on Earth accessible 4 amateurs.
