The gold chain allows you to wear the purse two ways, you can pull the chain from two places for an even hold, like a handbag, or you can pull just one side of the chain so it drops the purse lower to be worn over the shoulder, or across the body at an angle. Definitely intended for smaller kids, or possibly tweens ....I wouldn't think this is big enough for an adult to use, as it wouldn't be long enough for most standard sized wallets.
