Owl Babies Padded Board Book

Good book with cute story and pictures. Granddaughter loves it.

I bought this beautifully illustrated board book for my owl-loving son when he was 22-months old. I expected him to love it and was surprised and saddened when it terrified him: "No, no!" was his reaction to the 3 little owls waking in their tree home to find their mommy gone. He could not last three more pages until the mommy returned and all was well. After trying to read it to him 3-4 times and getting the same reeaction each time, I put the book on a shelf and left it. 6 weeks later my (then nearly 24-month old son) pulled the book off the shelf and asked me to read it to him. I read the first page, and then he immediately flipped to the end when the mommy comes home, still unable to wait wade through the pages in between. This went on for 4-5 more readings until one day he let me read the whole book to him. My son just turned two and now he LOVES it and had us read to him repeatedly every day. "Mommy came back!" he exclaims each time. I'm so glad we stuck with this book; it's a sweet story, beautifully illustrated, and helps my son with separations. When I need to leave him he now says "owl mommy came back!" Yes, I tell him, Mommys always come back. He has applied this book to his own life and it gives him comfort. Wonderful book! If your child is initially scared by it don't be disheartened, stick with it and keep it in a place where your child can bring it to you when they are ready to absorb it.

This is absolutely my favorite children’s book. I buy the board book for all of my friend’s babies. When I worked in early childhood, the kids all loved listening to this story. For the 2’s, I would always let them yell out “I want my Mommy!” It’s a sweet story, and it easy to be animated while reading it. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to do a dynamic reading for you. LOL

Wonderful book. We lost a library one, so I bought a replacement. The art work is amazing and so is the story. Highly recommend.

Great story and a fun read a loud ! 3 little owls with 3 distinct personalities!

I got this for my toddler when I started my new job a few months ago (in-office 5 days a week, plus lots of travel), along with a few other books about how mommy might be gone for a bit but she's always gonna come back. She has LOVED it. To pieces. Not quite literally yet, but we're getting there. Speaking of — oh my god, I love board books in general, and this one especially. It's super sturdy and has held up incredibly well to toddler abuse. I also love the feel of the padded soft cover — it's the perfect amount of squishy and soft. I know that's a weird thing to say about a book. Whatever. She keeps bringing this book to me to read, and each time I finish she signs "again?" and looks up at me with a big smile, so... I can't not. Seriously, I must have read this at least 10 times today. On the 8th time I suddenly thought "you know what? I should really go write an Amazon review for this thing." The story itself is so sweet, and I genuinely enjoy doing different voices for all three owls when I read it (which, again, is many times per day). The illustrations are absolutely precious — each one is so expressive and evokes real feeling. The baby owls' facial expressions in particular are just... perfectly done.
