I use the Angels' eyes pads. You don't have to rinse after using the product. Often, I take a dry cotton pad and wipe off an excess.

Can I use them on my black dog just for gunk around her eyes or will it lighten the fur?

It definitelywill not lighten your furbaby's fur. I use it on my Yorkie every other day just to remove the gunk. Works like magic and it does not hurt his eyes. It's very gentle.
