Capezio's Juliet ballet shoe is top notch when it comes to a breathable, comfortable feel. The canvas ballet slipper features pre-attached elastic at the heel for a custom fit, suede sole patches that glide delicately, a moisture-absorbent lining, and a sculpted, seamless arch that molds to the perfect fit. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

NOT AUTHENTIC!!! DONT BUY!!!!!!!!
DONT BUY!!!!! FAKES!!!! These are written and shown to be authentic Capezio Juliet ballet shoes. THEY ARENT!!! They are cheap look alike. The inside are like cheap felt and the fit is horrible. They are too small. I had these exact shoes but the authentic ones and my size is a 6. These wouldn’t even go passed my toes. Even if you look past the fact that they aren’t authentic Capezio they are I’ll fitting and cheaply made. The fact that the buyer passes them off as real ones is even worse. They should at least be honest about that. I am really disappointed and will not recommend anyone buy these you are better off going to a dance store and buying them there. The only reason I gave one star is because 0 stars is not a thing. I hope I helped someone not waste their time and money on these.

Great Ballet Shoe for a Beginner!
I have to thank everyone for excellent reviews, because it's how I managed to choose the correct size for myself (I'm normally a 9), especially because my ballet teacher told me that the shoes are generally two sizes off. So, a 9.5 fit my size 9 feet perfectly.Luckily the straps, though shown unsewn, were already sewn on. I was not looking forward to having to do that little task myself.I had been doing ballet (for the first time in my life) without shoes, so after getting these it was such a nice change! My feet moved so smoothly over the floor and my form improved for a lot of the steps and movements. My teacher admonished me to tuck the strings into the shoe (having that bow there is messy!), but I found that it really bothered my foot to have all that string pressed against me.Great shoe that I chose very carefully, and would definitely choose again.

Buy 1 full size up
I am normally a US size 6.5 W or 7 M in shoes. I bought these in an 8 W. At first, I thought they were too large because I can insert a finger into the heel. However, after jumping around a bit in class, your feet swell up and it's important that you can fully extend your toes. I'm puzzled at why people would buy these shoes really snug to try to stretch them. Seems like they'll get a hole super fast. As your feet sweat, they sort of conform and stick to your arches. These are a comfortable ballet flat even if they don't have a large forefoot pad like Bloch Performa for balancing. The canvas is soft and does not cause blisters. I find the suede soles are great for gripping the floor when you need it eg. long lunges. I use these for Les Mills Barre class.

Great for teachers!
These are by far my favorite ballet shoe! I teach 13 classes a week and go through three or four pairs a year. The Juliet used to come with the elastics unsewn (as shown in the photo Amazon provides), but for the past year or so they come attached. The attached elastic fits my feet well, but I've heard other dancers with high arches have problems with how tight they are. I have regular looking arches but the shape of this shoe makes my feet look much prettier than they are! The drawstring is incredibly long- maybe twice as long as they need to be! Before this shoe I'd never done this before, but now I cut about eight inches off the drawstring before I knot it.I try to be as careful with my shoes as possible; I avoid wearing them on anything other than dance floor and spot clean them if I get the tops dirty. Generally around the time they start looking by grey and dusty I wear a hole in big toe. Once I have a small tear in the toe I can only get about two weeks out of the shoe. Once the hole gets to be the size of a pencil eraser it ends up gaping open pretty quickly.I've never found the perfect tights to match the color of these shoes, even with Capezio brand tights. It's not a huge problem (as evidenced by the fact that I keep being the same thing), but it can be frustrating for recitals and level grading.

they fit so much better than these
I must admit, its been years since I've purchased new ballet shoes. Wow, the quality has gone down hill! The inside pads are loose and must be glued or sewn. I am a true size 7 street shoe so I ordered a half size up, which given the amount of material around the foot should fit just right. However, the shoes pinch my big toes and cut into my heel. Even after removing the elastic drawstring, the shoes still pinch. I shouldn't be surprised based on the price and material - but Capezio is a brand name. I may re-sole my original leather shoes (15 yrs old), they fit so much better than these!

Decent split shoe, but runs small and is narrow
This was a decent split shoe that I used for about a month or so before jumping back into pointe after being away from dance for quite some time. I just picked it up to be a quick transition shoe. They are a bit narrow, but then again I have narrow feet so I'm not really complaining about that aspect. But definitely buy a size up as they run small. It's more suited as a child's shoe I'd say since the materials aren't for someone who is going to be dancing super frequently. Capezio is a good brand and the material is quality enough, but the inserts are rather cheap. All in all not a bad shoe.

Great shoe
I have purchased Capezio ballet slippers before but these may be my favorites. The straps were pre sewn which takes work out for me. The insides are very soft and they hug my feet perfectly, showing off my arches in all the right ways. Other shoes I've had in the past were sort of baggy around the toes but these look great. I ordered a size 7W since I am getting older now and my feet seem to be getting wider.

Great ballet slippers
These are great ballet shoes. Not sure why the photo has the elastic not sewn. the Elastic is already attached. My daughter loves these shoes, they accentuate her arch and she feels very comfortable in them. She can go 3-4 hours in a master class and they are not tight. The sizing is a bit confusing. We did go to Capezio store to try her very first pair on ages ago and ever since then I just get half a size up when her foot grows. Her regular size is 5 and I had to get these in size 6.5M. so its 1.5 size up for her. She's been wearing this particular shoe for 2.5 years already, they are great!
