doesn't care if compressor is cold or hot, it performs well either way. Good stuff.
I've saved all the used oil from oil changes in clear bottles just for comparison. My compressor (5HP/60gal, bought new) doesn't run as often as it would in a commercial setting, so I only change the oil about once a year. Oil comes out nearly clear, same as it went in, with no visible particulates even during the breakin period. Since it's synthetic, it doesn't care if the compressor is in a heated/cooled shed or not, it will perform the same whether hot or cold. It's expensive, but for a 1X a year cost, it's trivial. Seems worth it to me, and I'm a penny-pincher.

Really nice slick oil
This is not standard oil. Some came with my new compressor and you can tell by how it feels it is very slick and will do a better job. In the warranty card it offers a better warranty if you use this oil. So ingersoll rand has done some R&D on this and stands behind it. Its expensive but after spending a huge amount on a nice new compressor its worth it to me.

A high quality compressor oil
I use this on an ancient compressor and I was kind of skeptical at first because of the age of the pump and if I should go with a synthetic. That being said after 5 cycles of my compressor from 0 to 130 PSI. My head temp was 20° cooler than it normally was with the generic ISO 100 oil I had in it before. That being said I feel it's overpriced a little.
