My daughter normally wears a size 5 but I chose a 6-7 just in case and she definitely has room to grow, so I'd say it runs pretty true to size. The material IS clingy and may not look great on all body types but should be fine for most little girls. ETA: After the first wash (I washed it by itself, cold water) the dye of the dress stained the white collar so it is no longer pure white, but has a very faint hint of purple.
