Nice Visuals
I got this book to see if I could get any tips on writing in the "comic" style. So far all have been able to do is look at the visuals in this book by the Artists that were chosen. Makes a great addition to any art book collection. Once I get down to truly reading this book I will probably update this review...But for the moment.+Great Quality Construction+Visuals from selected Artists is awesome+Seems to give nice tutorials (from a visual aspect)-None as of this review thus far...

What an amazing book.
I, myself write and found answers to some of my problems. But I do wish there was more of how to write "Amazing Manga Stories" then there was. I also enjoyed reading the interviews with the artists. The art itself was gorgeous but for me the thing I found most productive is the how to write summary's of your story guide. If someone is looking for some guidance and beautiful art I advice you to buy this book.

Mostly for Reference than a "How to Do"
I really enjoy the books (bought all 3) and they give like about 3-5 pages of pointers and tutorial, then the rest of the book is just art from different authors/artists and a bit of pointer from them. But I mostly enjoy art books for references. Rarely a "how to do" book.

Eh, it was alright.
This book is for absolute beginners, not what I thought it would be at all. It has about 6-8 pages about the story writing aspect of manga and the rest of it is art examples. I guess it would be a good introduction into the manga story, but I wouldn't recommend it to those of the more advanced writing school.

Good, But Not What I Expected
When I bought this book, I was expecting it to contain lots of in-depth advice about writing; unfortunately, the book is nowhere near as comprehensive as described. There's an 8-page section in the beginning that grazes over the issues of story structure, creating conflict, etc. Another 6 pages after that discusses (in somewhat more detail this time) how to create believeable enviroments for your stories. The rest of the book is basically like any other Comickers book--loads of lovely coffee-table imagery, peppered with artist interviews and similar behind-the-scenes tidbits. The major disadvantage of this book (other than the short shrift it gives what is *supposedly* the theme of the book) is the translation. The book was originally published in Japanese, and the translation is a little iffy at times. In other words, most of the time it's hard to tell exactly WHAT the author is trying to say!If you're looking for in-depth advice about writing manga stories, you're probably better off reading a book like "Making Comics"; or better yet, a book devoted solely to writing techniques, such as "The Lie That Tells The Truth", "On Writing", or "The Hero with a Thousand Faces". The 98 pages of artwork is really good, however, and for you it might be worth getting the book just for that. Just keep in mind that this book is probably not what you would have expected.

Good, detailed descriptions on Story Telling
Probably the best out of the 4 books in the series at the moment. I actually came across to the be Comickers series because of this book. I am a (to be) Game Developer and active Manga/Anime enthusiast. I was interested how story development is crafted within Manga/Anime and portrayed by pacing and character development. Story telling from any entertainment industries (Game/Movies/Books/Manga) are the same. the only difference is how it's presented.Going back to the review. As it says on the title this volume is more "story telling" focused. it is not a "how to draw" book. It does shows clear rough drawing to finished design, if you like that sort of thing (its on some of the pages, not all). It goes through the techniques used and a step to step guide of the drawing. If you are unsure what to get first out of the series. Get this one first,3, then 1 and then 2 (if you really must). if you want more of an abstract Art of manga go for the Japanese Comickers.

As great as other magazines in the series~
It is a great book for beginners. Even if you are not a beginner you will still be able to enjoy the book simply because of the nice arts and stuff. But again the same problem appeared as in other books which the sample stories were in Japanese. You will not like this book if you are looking for something specific, because after all it is a magazine.
